Home on 5 Acres in Ellison Bay!

If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway, then you've found it at The Goddess Door Family Home, hosted by Simple Life Rentals! This home is located on a quiet 5 acre piece of property on a cul-de-sac.The yard has several seating areas, and room to run. The house is on the north side of Ellison Bay, close to many activities, and a good home base for exploring all the county has to offer. This home was built by the current owner's father, who was a skilled carpenter. He handcrafted the kitchen cabinets from cherrywood and made the stained glass windows in the three season porch. He remodeled and maintained it with love. There are many small touches in the home that reflect the family's Door County history, such as the kitchen table that belonged to the owner's grandparents where many family memories were made. You will also find art from local artists, and touches of the Clearing throughout the house.

**This property is located in a quiet community with neighbors and is geared towards quiet family vacations. Due to the proximity of neighbors, we cannot accommodate parties at the property including bachelor or bachelorette parties, reunions, or other rowdy gatherings.

Loved the peacefulness and dark skies for star gazing.
The kitchen is spacious with beautiful oak cabinets. The home is situated on 5 acres with open spaces for star gazing, hemmed in by trees. It took a little time to get used to the fuel odor from the stand alone stoves. I reached out to the property owners who reassured me at the beginning of the heating season this can occur. Also there were not 3 bedrooms although there was a daybed in a walk-through alcove. There are two enclosed bedrooms.

Tranquil Oasis
This property is only a short jaunt to the ferry to Washington Island. The house is set in a lovely and secluded area with outdoor seating, a fire pit, and fruit trees. We even got to watch a porcupine enjoy apples from the apple tree! Inside, the living areas are absolutely lovely--the kitchen being the best!

Great location and well-equipped.
Overall, we had a great stay. The location was perfect. When we were at the house, we spent most of our time in the kitchen. If we stayed here again, it would just be the two of us, because of the sizes of the beds and layout of the bedrooms.

Another fabulous stay at the Goddess Door! We have been coming to Door County with our children for over a decade, and this is hands-down our favorite property to stay at. The location is fabulous and the property itself is charming and perfect. Thanks for another wonderful stay!

Mostly great
The house was cozy and on a beautiful property. Loved the wind chimes as we drove in the driveway. The stained glass around the home is very pretty. The main issue we had was the listing called out two full bathrooms which we assumed included a shower in each, but the house only has 1 shower in the primary bath. The second bath has only a tub. The single shower was clogged and water was not draining properly, so that we had to wait to use it so it could drain between uses, and taking a shower was unpleasant standing in a tub full of water. We informed the host of the issue and heard back that someone may be coming to fix it, but the host did not communicate a follow up message to let us know if the issue was fixed during our stay. Other than that, a few fans might help keep the place cooler when using the window AC - without fans, the cooling had a hard time making it to the primary bedroom in the back, and the guests staying in the smaller bedrooms were too cold. Thankfully the second night was cooler and we could turn off the AC and open the windows

Very beautiful kitchen
The house was very nice we loved the kitchen. When we reached out the response was very fast. It’s in a very good location to get to sister bay or ride the ferry to Washington island. Lots a places to hike near by. The only thing I have an issue with was the third bed room being open to the hallway and the living room with out reading all of the property details I did not catch that at first but it still was a great place to stay and would stay again if in the area. Thank you for letting us stay! We had a great time!

As we prepared to leave we noticed that there was a wet load of clothes in the washer? You need a drain plug that fits in the tub, we used a rag to get by. The plant life could use a trimming. Overall a nice place.

We enjoyed staying here for the long MDW weekend! The house is beautiful and spacious and the perfect location relative to most of what Door County has to offer. We enjoyed this property and spending our time in Door County. Our only suggestion would be to have another TV in the primary bedroom; we enjoy winding our nights with a TV show. We would definitely consider coming back to this property with a larger group next time.

The property was beautiful and well maintained. Watching deer come and go. Everything inside was clean, we loved the woodwork and kitchen. Couple things i would change, make at least one of the toilets' a high rise, smaller bedroom could definitely use a new mattress and maybe some new bedding throughout including pillows. would be nice if the kitchen had a Keurig. We enjoyed our stay and all wished it could have been longer.

Quiet and private
The property the house sits on is beautiful and natural with old growth trees and 5 acres of lovelyDoor County land. It is on a quiet dead end road. The house itself is adequate tho quirky with one bathroom off the kitchen far from the bedrooms and the other in the larger bedroom. It was great to have the window air conditioning unit in the living room which helped to cool the bedrooms as well. Air conditioning is unusual in older homes in door County. The freezer ice machine did not work and there was no container to freeze ice cubes so that was disappointing. Overall the location was convenient to Ellison Bay, Gills Rock and Sister Bay. We enjoyed dinner at the Boathouse overlooking the Marina in Sister Bay and stopped frequently at Kick Ash coffeehouse in Ellison Bay for a coffee.

Great Cabin, Great Location!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. We've been coming to Door County for many years, and this is by far our favorite property. The location is ideal, and very quiet and private. We are a family of 6, and we really enjoyed the large outdoor space. The fire pit is lovely, and the kitchen was perfect. We also really liked the small aesthetic touches like the stained glass windows. We really couldn't have had a lovlier stay, and are looking forward to booking this property again next year. Thank you!
