Take a step back through time when you escape to this atmospheric home at the Fort Casey Inn, a century-old property with front porch views of Crockett Lake, Admiralty Bay, and the evergreen shores of Whidbey Island.

The Fort Casey Inn dates back to 1909, with its cottages once serving as quarters for non-commissioned officers at neighboring Fort Casey. Today, the adjacent Fort Casey State Park is one of the most beautiful spots to explore on Whidbey Island, with its bunkers and batteries, a lovely lighthouse, driftwood-strewn beaches, and awe-inspiring sunset views of the Olympic Mountains across the water. You can walk to the Coupeville Ferry Dock (which connects to Port Townsend) and drive to the Ebey's Landing Bluff Trail (three miles) and picturesque downtown Coupeville (four miles) in a matter of minutes.

This particular home occupies one half of a duplex. As part of the inn, it enjoys access to grills and picnic tables on the grounds. If you're traveling with a group, the meeting space at Garrison Hall is even available for gatherings and retreats.

The interior is full of old island atmosphere, from the coffered ceiling in the living room to the charming decor throughout. After a day spent beachcombing or hiking, come home to curl up by the gas fireplace, cook together in the timeless kitchen, or sip a glass of wine and admire the golden hour light outside on the front porch. There's no TV to distract you here, so you're free to reconnect with the people you love.

Liked: Cleanliness
It easy to get in. Another guest helped figure the code system.
It was charming to stay in the historic cottage. Very well appointed with traditional style to fit the time period. Needs a little TLC outside. I thought the cleaning was high. It was almost as much as the price of the accommodations. I wished I had known this upfront.
