The Only cabins in the area with covered parking and screened porches.

The Space:
- The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking appliances and supplies. Basic pantry items, such as spices, sugar, butter, flour and milk are already there for your convenience. We have a stovetop with small oven (large enough for 13x9 pan, but not tall enough for a turkey), toaster, microwave, coffee maker, crockpot, pots and pans, BBQ utensils, propane grill, and dinnerware.

- A complimentary bottle of bubbly will be waiting for you in the fridge, as well as all the fixins’ for a hearty breakfast on your first morning. Generally this will be eggs from our hens, sausage, orange juice, English muffins, oatmeal , muffin mixes, pancake mix & syrup, butter, jam, coffee, tea, milk and half and half.

- The dining table is large. Or dine on the 300 square foot screened-in porch (no pesky flies ruining your BBQ), while watching for the occasional deer, coyote, or aoudad. There are many bird species as well, such as road runners, quail, hawks, orioles, indigo buntings, stellar jays and owls.

- The great room offers comfortable seating, and a KING bed near the bathroom. There are many board games and puzzles for adults and children. There is a smart TV with Netflix. We also have an interesting selection of books about the area.

- A spiral staircase accesses the loft bedroom which features two beds (a single and a double).

- The extra large bathroom with clawfoot bathtub and a crystal chandelier is luxurious, elegant, and every woman’s dream. We provide luxury soaps and lotions, bath bombs, bath bubbles, facial masks, cotton balls, Q Tips, make-up removal towelettes, shampoo and cream rinse, and a hair dryer.

-WiFi and telephone is onsite, as is a BBQ grill with propane tank. We also supply an extra propane tank.

Guest Access:
Guests have the entire cabin centered on over 6 secluded acres of peace and quiet all to themselves. There is only one other cabin (The Hideout at Palo Duro Canyon - Rider’s Roost, which sleeps 4), on the 6.5 acre property. There are beautiful horses and two goats, Danny Boy and Fern, grazing the property. All this privacy, yet the State Park which offers hiking and mountain biking nirvana, Palo Duro Creek Ranch Jeeping tours, and Palo Duro Riding Stables are all less than two miles away! And don’t forget the musical drama TEXAS which shows in the park’s outdoor amphitheater June through mid-August.
If you like museums, the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum is approximately 10 miles away and is the largest history museum in the state of Texas.
Bar Z Winery is also near by.
It’s a 30 minute drive to Amarillo, home of the famous Route 66, the Cadillac Ranch, The Big Texan Steak Ranch, the Amarillo Center for the Performing Arts, Amarillo Botanical Gardens, and the 6th street antique mall.

We as hosts and owners of the property will frequently be on the property tending to the animals, watering trees, perhaps cleaning the other cabin on the property.

Please note ONLY the number of guests booked can be on the property. We do not accept 3rd party bookings as this is against booking platform policy. Only the guests that book the property can be on the property. Guests cannot have additional visitors. Guests having parties or events such as weddings will be fined and asked to leave immediately.

No smoking or vaping is allowed inside. Guests will be charged if we have to hire a company to remove smoke/vaping odors.

The Neighborhood:
The cabin is located approximately 1.5 miles from the entrance to Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

During the summer months TEXAS Musical Drama shows at the park's outdoor amphitheater.

Palo Duro Riding Stables is just a stone throw from The Hideout. They’ve been around since 1962 and some of their horses are 3rd generation trail horses. Jesse and Kristen Sorenson really know their business! We highly recommend them!

Palo Duro Creek Ranch Jeep Tours is located between The Hideout and the state park entrance. Have a blast exploring a private part of the canyon in an all terrain vehicle with driver.

Creek House Honey Farm is a great first stop on the way into the town of Canyon for lunch, or a great last stop on the way back to your cabin for a drink!

The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum is 11 miles away, and is the largest history museum in the state of Texas.

Bar Z Winery is also very close by.

We have great restaurants on the town square, such as Joe Taco's, Sayakamaryns, and Palace Coffee. Feldman’s family diner is also in town, as is Pepitos Mexican Restaurant.

The city of Amarillo is a 30 minute drive from the cabin, and has a wide variety of arts, entertainment, sporting events and restaurants. It’s home of The Big Texan Steak Ranch, home of the 72 ounce steak!

Getting Around:
There is no public transportation.

Interaction with Guests:
Your hosts will be available by phone 24/7, and live only 2 miles away. A concierge service is available for a $40.00 fee.
We do come on the property every morning and every evening to tend to the horses. We enjoy visiting with our guests, but we also respect your privacy. During summer we are often on the property watering trees.

Exactly what I was looking for
This property was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, extremely cute and well stocked, peaceful surroundings and enjoyable evenings by the pond, delicious breakfasts with farm fresh eggs. Decor with touch of old west and very friendly hosts, we would definitely recommend and go back.

The Hideout
What an exceptional property and so very close to Palo Dura Canyon State Park. The kitchen was stocked so well and they included breakfast for our first morning. The screened in porch was wonderful and we enjoyed watching the horses and looking at the pond. We highly recommend staying here, it was perfect.

Cozy and beautifully decorated with antiques. The host left us breakfast basics which was much appreciated. The horses, chickens and turkey were an added bonus.

Very nice cabin and close to the state park
The house interior was beautifully decorated and the owner was nice enough to leave us food in the fridge. My kids loved it as the owner allowed us to interact with the animals they owned. It was never boring there and the best part was that the location was super close to the state park so we were able to get there in time for the sunrise over the canyon.

Perfect Location to Explore Palo Duro
We had an amazing stay at The Hideout. The property is mere minutes from Palo Duro State Park. You can't be any closer! Andrea, our host, clearly puts a lot of love into providing a great experience for guests. The cabin is well furnished and has a well stocked kitchen. The farm fesh eggs were such a nice treat. We loved watching the horses graze from the comfort of the screened patio and spent our evenings enjoying the cool spring air. I'd highly recommend a stay here for a truly unique Texas Panhandle experience.

Location and decor was on point. Amenities were over the top! Great place for R&R and close proximity to park and other activities. The town of Canyon was only a 15-minute drive where you can find restaurants, museums, etc... We thoroughly enjoyed all the animals on the property and our host was very accommodating. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Palo Duro Canyon area.

The Hideout was such a wonderful place to stay. Every last detail was perfect. The refrigerator was stocked with fresh eggs and sausage for breakfast. A bottle of champagne and orange juice for mimosas. So close to the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon. Our host Andrea was an Angel. We look forward to another visit.

Beautiful place
We had a wonderful stay. The property is very pretty. Big screened in porch with swing, rocker table and gorgeous view of the pond and horses. Gurgling pond and songbirds complete the picture. Inside is full of antiques and nice little touches, including great books. Will recommend to friends and family. Host couldn’t have been nicer as well.

Andrea is a great host, very attentive. The fresh eggs for breakfast from the chickens on property were wonderful. We enjoyed our evenings petting the horses. We would have preferred a shower over the tub only. Overall we had a great experience.

Romantic old west cabin
This is a beautiful cabin. It has a wonderful screened in porch, and you can hear the waterfall in the pond. My son and I stayed up to see the Milkyway in the dark sky. Inside it is decorated vintage upper class home style of the old west, with all the modern comforts. It would be great for romantic getaways. The owner was pleasant, very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon. R. J

Perfect getaway!
We loved the hideout!! The location couldn’t have been more perfect for our trip to Palo Duro Canyon! The saddle, hay bale steer to rope, and the tipi were all adorable, and our kids thought it was so cool! Everything on the grounds was beautifully done, so well kept, and we all loved the atmosphere so much! The kitchen was stocked with breakfast items, including fresh eggs from the chickens on the property, which we thought was such a nice addition! We would definitely recommend!

Amazing experience
Myself and two friends stayed here to hike Palo Duro Canyon and it was perfect. From the friendly horses on the property and the extra goodies the owner left in the refrigerator, bathroom and candy bowls, everything was fabulous. We went to hike, but frankly, hanging on the porch swing overlooking the pond with a tabletop fire pit glowing was half the experience. Can’t wait to go back! Don’t stay in Canyon, stay here. You won’t regret it. :)

paradise at the ranch
I stayed at the ranch over Thanksgiving weekend with my two teenage daughters and it was such an incredible experience. The house is so special and unique and Andrea is extremely thoughtful - she had the house stocked with any item one could possibly desire for breakfast. And there was cheese and wine waiting when we arrived! The house is close to canyon and it is such a wonderful escape to be surrounded by acres of open land. We will be back!

Great location, some small unit issues
The property is very nice and the owners are great. The TV access is not very good: small and inconvenient locations. There is no shower and the tub is very slippery even when the mat is used. Still a very nice stay overall.

Such a wonderful getaway
The property manager is so kind and friendly. She showed us around the property. The horses came over and said hi to us while we were walking around. The property is just a few miles from both the canyon itself, the city called canyon, and Amarillo. We stayed during the cold storm in early January and the power actually went out for an hour or so. The manager was right there to help us out with more wood for the stove and even offered to put us up in a hotel for the night. We stuck it out and the power came back in. It just made the experience more memorable for us. We highly recommend this nice little cabin. It’s so quiet and dark at night so you can see all the stars

Great Cabin
Great cabin. Perfect jump off spot for Caprocks, Palo Duro, Amarillo, Panhandle Plains Museum, and Canyon. Cabin is a studio with loft bedrooms up spiral stairs. Kitchen very well stocked. Owners supplied lovely breakfast fixings including fresh eggs. Covered parking was perfect for shade and afternoon showers. Screened porch was perfect to watch summer thunderstorm roll in. No shower only tub with handheld shower…is listed in description and not a big deal to us. We loved our time here. Thank you for sharing a little slice of the panhandle with us.

Perfect In Every Way
My stay was perfect in every way! I cannot think of anything that would have made it any better. I struggle with writing this review because there are no words that can adequately capture how beautiful this cabin and the property it sits on are. The pictures simply do not do it justice. You have to see it and experience it for yourself. If you are looking for quiet, tranquility, peace, and the perfect location to reflect and meditate, look no further. From the very private location to the fabulous amenities, it is nearly impossible for me to identify my favorite part of the stay; however, the swing on the screened in porch quickly became my go to. If I could give 10 stars I would. One of the best rentals I have ever experienced!

Magical place
The setting at the edge of Palo Duro Canyon was amazing. The company of a couple of gentle old horses and a friendly house cat suggests you are at home. We found everything we needed for breakfast - including fresh eggs from Andrea's chickens - which is a treat at a place that is a bit isolated (which is a virtue.) The main house is eclectically decorated and kind of a hoot, with a massive bathroom and expansive tub. The loft bedroom is well done, but a bit difficult to access up a narrow metal spiral staircase. There is no barrier between the loft and main sleeping area below, so it may not work well for people traveling together who are not family or very close. The stable also has a nice setup with a bedroom, sitting area, shower and small kitchen space. The stable bedroom is available for an additional charge. It would be helpful to know in advance exactly how far you can wander from the house because you quickly encounter fences and can accidentally trespass if you don't pay some attention to the signage. That said, we found Andrea a wonderful and engaged host who provided us a great memory in a wonderful setting.
