What you can expect

Fire knife dancers, poi ball twirlers and engaging storytelling awaits at Luau Kalamaku, where you can immerse yourself in the legends of ancient Hawaii.

A train ride around the heart of Kilohana Plantation is available as an optional add. Round-trip transportation to and from most Kauai hotels and lodging is also available as an add on.

Arrive at the 105-acre working Kilohana Plantation and start your evening with a ride on a train with railway cars that are reproductions of models used during the time of Kalakaua, Hawaii's last reigning king. A local guide narrates as you chug along, so you can learn about the history of Kauai's early plantation days as you see where fruits and vegetables like papaya, bananas, and mangoes are grown. Hop off partway through to meet animals like pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, and horses before looping back to the luau grounds.

When you hear the conch shell sound, gather around as the savory kalua pig is unearthed in a time-honored imu reveal. Hula dancers sway in traditional dress to the sounds of Tahitian drumbeats, and award-winning musicians take you on a journey of song and dance through the South Pacific. Savor a buffet of island fare like lomi lomi salmon and pineapple upside-down cake, and, once the sun sets, fire knife dancing brings Kauai's mythology to life.
