Wang, the tour guide was amazing!!! he is effectively trilingual. he is also very laid back and chilled out. Very clear instructions were given. Everyone on the tour was disciplined in sticking to the time to get back to the bus each time. I would have appreciated having been updated about the temperature before the trip to Shiragawago. I was not expecting it to be 3 Degrees. Another heads-up I would have appreciated is that we had to pay to see the houses in Shiragawago - It was about 300-400 yen for each house.

I found this tour online and made a booking as it was really hard to book a tour available in English. I read some very negative comments here and lowkey was worried but I really wanted to go to Shirakawago so I just gave it a go. First of all, our guide was Wong and I MUST talk about her first, if the company’s owner is reading this, you need to give this woman a huge pay rise and some good treatment, she’s a machine I have been working in the tourism/hospo industry for years and she was single handily looking after 50+ people and I saw some people complaining about not understanding their English, but Wong spoke and understood English VERY well and she also spoke in Mandarin and Japanese. It’s more like transportation which makes your life much easier than organizing them yourself, couch is comfy and driver was great. Wong gives you some good suggestions and brief behind stories don’t expect a full tour, however I was 100% satisfied with this tour.
