Get off the usual tourist trail on a full-day tour of the Tam Giang Lagoon along the coast of the Thua Thien Hue plain.
Following a pick-up from your hotel in Hue, drive to Tam Giang to see one of the largest lagoons of the region. Break for morning tea at a homestay on My Thanh Wharf, and interact with the locals to learn about life on the water. Then, cycle to an exhibition of the traditional fishing tools to learn more about this less explored region of Vietnam.
Dismount your bike for a boat ride across the lagoon to experience the aquaculture activities up close. Try your luck at catching a fish with the help of a local fisherman. Back on dry land, cycle around the village, and on through the vegetable farms and paddy fields.
Next go to the craft village of Thuy Lap to watch the locals weaving. Break for lunch at a homestay, or the house of the Ngu My Thanh community. Watch local artisans skillfully weaving bamboo in Bao La village, before your return transfer to Hue. En route, you will stop at the Thu Le Temple, the central meeting house for the local communities.
