Arrived on time and was welcomed at reception and given the key by a very friendly lady. The room looked nice but the bathroom needs fixing up a little. The toilet is not square to the room or the walls and sometimes the flush needed attention before it would stop. The water from the sink taps was VERY hot immediately so when it was time for a shower we were very wary of it. The evening meal in Forest was very nice. Steak (well done) cooked to perfection and very tasty. The bed was comfy but we were woken early by deliveries in the front street and the bin collections. After that it was hard to settle again. Breakfast was lovely and the staff service for the evening and the morning was very good/attentive. If we were to stay again we would ask for a room at the back of the building. All in all, not a bad stay really. was quite nice overall.

Appears lovingly restored. Owners have managed to keep many old features and quirkiness. Excellent location - you can hear the Minster bells close by. Excellent breakfast Nothing to dislike. Would stay again

Lovely stay, great location that is the best thing about the stay. Clean and tidy, good breakfast. The room was very noisy hearing from the street early in the morning but that is not the hotels fault.

Excellent location and great breakfast
Perfect location for a visit to York and really excellent breakfast. Our room at the top of the hotel was very compact but reasonably comfortable. The en-suite shower room was definitely the smallest we have ever seen. Usable but tiny- and for larger people probably challenging!

What a Gem
Fantastic location , very central . Reasonable quiet of a night. We stayed in one of the top rooms which we loved ,however it had the smallest bathroom I have ever used ,me and my husband are quite small if you where on the large side I would suggest different room choice . Service ,cleanliness was impeccable . Breakfast choice was good and food was delicious and well cooked.

Little hotel in beautiful historic street
The hotel is perfectly located in a little street in the city centre. Easy to get to and from and 10 min walking from the train station. It is surrounded by little shops and restaurants. The room is a good size. The bed and pillows are OK and the bathroom is a good size as well. Breakfast is included and really nice. Everyone is very attentive and eager to help.

A very central hotel close to the Minster and the centre of historic York. A comfortable and quiet bedroom which felt cosy. The staff are outstanding - friendly, polite, considerate and keen to help. Food is also excellent and generously portioned. The whole experience was excellent and very good value. I will return.
