It had a feeling of being at a B&B, the owners can be seen during breakfast time, making sure his guest are pleased with their stay! The staff was very accommodating. One can ask to see the private art of Mr Elfred Lee, besides seeing some of his work on display around the hotel! For those who want to enjoy a small walk to downton Xalapa this is a great location and it is very quiet area!

Lovely hotel close to the center
The Clara Luna is a very comfortable hotel close to the main park and has been newly remodeled. Our king bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The shower was not as warm as we would have liked at times but we were told that they were repairing the boiler. The breakfast menu was varied and satisfying. We stayed for six nights and enjoyed our stay.

Quiet and well located
Quiet and well located (not far from zocalo and restaurants). Huge room with recent furnitures. From the room, view on an unused parking lot. Only negative point: strong odor from a disinfectant (need few hours to remove with window open).

Great location, lovely hotel with nice people
This is one of the best locations in town, on a nice street, not noisy, near good restaurants and the central district but just a little bit away from the hustle- bustle. The hotel is modern and comfortable...they are in the midst of updating, but there are still some smoking rooms being changed over to non- smoking that retain odors, so beware of that. A disappointment is that seemingly all rooms look out on an ugly parking lot or into a wall.. But it didn't bother me. Beds were extremely good, the room is wel- lit and very satisfactory. The staff is helpful and the restaurant is good ( but so many good ones in this city, I would go out, except for breakfast).

Good Place To Stay
Staff was exceptionally helpful, Self parking was free and very convenient. Public areas were very impressive for a three star hotel. Restaurant was convenient and reasonably priced for breakfast. The only criticism is that room maintenance, not cleanliness, could be improved. A suggestion is to include breakfast as an additional charge option. We were well satisfied with our stay and found the price very reasonable.

Beautiful Hotel
The Clara Luna is on a quiet street yet very close & within walking distance to the zocalo and downtown area. This hotel doesn't look like much from the street outside, but inside it is very clean and modern. My wife and I and our 4 month old stayed one night in a room with two double beds. The hotel provided a Graco crib for the baby. I like that the hotel has free underground parking (though it was tight and a bit crowded when we left the next day). The carpet in the room looked brand new and I like the modern décor touches throughout the hotel. There is a little library and reading area in the lobby and a nice restaurant with lots of options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It was nearly 80 degrees when we arrived in mid December and our room was quite warm. The room has a remote controlled Samsung air conditioner, which is nice so you can turn the air on and not have to get back up out of bed to turn it off. It worked well and cooled the room in a short time. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. I don't recall hearing any noise from the outside or from any rooms near us. I would love to stay again and spend more time at the hotel and in the area!

Pretty Good, But Cold
We stayed 5 nights in a king room. It was November, rainy, with daytime temps in the 50s and low 60s. The lobby and breakfast room are adjacent to a patio that is open to the outdoors. Both were very cold. We wore our coats to breakfast. Our room was a little warmer but what we thought was a heater was actually only an air-conditioner. When we finally asked, we were given a space heater, so the last 2 nights were better. There was hot water in the morning only, not afternoon or evening. Apart from the cold problem, the hotel was comfortable enough. The room was spacious. The staff was very accommodating and nice, and a few of them spoke English. Hot breakfast was very good. The location is on a busy street, but the rooms are quiet. It's a few blocks from the old part of town, which is where you will spend most of your time. Be sure to visit the superb anthropology museum.

Beautiful, quiet retreat near the zocalo
Hotel Clara Luna is a jewel--a boutique hotel at a very reasonable price. All the staff go out of their way to make the guest feel at home. The owners have created a unique decor by furnishing a modern and spacious interior with some of their own European antiques.

It's all about the staff . . .
From the moment we drove into the garage after a slightly frazzling trip we were shown courtesy and competence. Unlike many other "high-end" domeciles they DONT nickle and dime you -instead the whole outfit is set up to let you relax and recharge. The only demerit was a room that was a tad dark, being in the back but that brought with it an appreciated quiet. The in-house restaurant, Cafe Azul isbetter than excellent and again, prices reflect the locale versus the saw-ya-coming tourist hustle that so many other hotels indulge in.

Xalapa stay at downtown.
All staff very accommodating and helpful. Very clean. A little bit of problem with water pressure in the shower but not awful at all. You will survive this just fine. Another small issue was the dogs barking or housing in the distance to sirens of police cars or ambulances driving by. Besides these small issues, very centric, about 2 blocks away from the town center, where there is much more noise and traffic. It was a great deal with breakfast and parking included.
