"Great location, close to the central square. The hotel is basic but that is reflected in the price. The rooms are entirely adequate, clean and warm. We didn't have breakfast but it looked like a decent continental offering. You check in via a machine at the front door at which point you pay and receive a code to access the hotel and your room; we therefore had no cause to deal with any hotel staff - no issue with any of that, the system worked well. "Firstly, the location and access to this charming hotel are perfect. Secondly, the room was spacious yet cosy with a beautiful view over the river. Very comfortable. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. "

"No dinner service because it was a weekend. Came down for breakfast around 7:30-8:00 and every table had dirty dishes on it, while staff were just hanging out at the front desk. I had to bus a table myself then scramble around looking for clean dishes to eat on. Noticed staff pointing at me and talking about me rather than helping me. Worst service I had my entire 3 week trip to 3 countries."

"In terms of an overnight stay, this hotel was the equivalent of other Ibis hotels we have stayed at - good value for money but the service we received was far from satisfactory and well below what we would have expected from Ibis. During the evening we were phoned from Reception and asked if we would return the bottle-opener we had borrowed. Naturally I assumed this was a genuine mistake and simply said we hadn't borrowed one. "The father and daughter who run the hotel are great. They speak very good English ( a great thing when my French is so poor) and run a nice hotel. The food at the hotel is a major plus. I enjoyed the day I spent in Revel and this hotel."

A great stay

"The hotel is inside the walled city, right next to the basilica. As no car is allowed to drive to the castle, the hotel offers a free shuttle to pick/drop you to the parking lot where you get in/off the taxi. The hotel has a lot of history but the condition itself needs some maintenance. The view from the hotel is unbeatable and the staff are super friendly. Overall is a very nice stay. Remember to book a taxi before arrival "

Lovely and great staff

"Only one night in Carcassonne and the old city was a bit of a disappointment, thankfully the hotel was lovely - small, family run, and parking was a bit of a faff - but enchanting. Apart from yet another sliding glass door 'covering' the loo, and annoyingly loud music all evening in the bar/restaurant/garden, it was a nice space to spend time. Food options were limited but nice, staff deserve special mention - top notch! Spaniel is your best friend if you have food, cat takes further convincing- would be amazing in summer I think."

"This is a property with character. Staff was professional, helpful and courteous. Located within the city wals, this was an ideal location to walk around, explore with easy access to shops and restaurants. Very Nice room on the second Floor with separate toilet and shower rooms. Lighting in the main room could be enhanced. Very good breakfast buffet with enough choice to please anybody. Very courteous breakfast room attendant. Quiet area as the mediëval city is virtually carfree. Highly recommended. We took the bus from the train station and a taxi back."

Perfect hotel in perfect location.

"Nice older hotel, but all modern features in room, in excellent location. About a 10 minute walk to amazing fortress/castle and same to the old part of town. Hotel had a small store attached, where you can buy great wine at an excellent price. They also had a great selection of cheeses and bread, plus other nice foods/snacks. Also, on the third floor they had a nice small terrace area to sit and drink wine, enjoy your bread and cheese and get an amazing view of the magnificent castle/fortress. They also had a nice patio garden area, but we didn’t avail ourselves of this. Lastly, the staff were friendly and the owners were on site all the time. They were very kind and helpful to us as we had to stay an extra night. Would thoroughly recommend this outstanding hotel, with extremely kind and friendly owners. "

"We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat."
