"What an amazing place, 5 star luxury, the hotel grounds are pristinely, you have your own beach (as its difficult to get to unless you have hotel access. Great pool, the food is the best we had in Sri Lanka, they serve different types of Sri Lankan breakfast that you can try, like egg hoppers and sting hoppers with curry and dhal. We stayed in the sea view rooms on the second floor, amazing view of the sea and are huge. The best bit are the guys working there, they cannot do enough for you and make the experience. 10 min walk to Turtle Beach were you can hand feed Green Turtles, 5 mins in a tuk tuk to Unawatuna and 15 to Galle. So huge choice of restaurants and bars. We loved it here, we will stay again when we come back to Sri Lanka. Great value too booked on Hotels.com. Best value we have ever had."

"This is a really good option for Unawatuna. It is set above the road (quite busy) and is an oasis of well designed chalets and the main the building. The pool is fantastic. Breakfast is available and we were told by guests that it was very good. The staff are wonderful. Friendly and very helpful. The rooms are spotless. The tuk tuk is always available to get from the front gate - many steps and quite steep if you decide to walk it (I did!). There are two large tortoises and two dogs on site. Only two slight negatives for me - the barking of the dogs (not all the time!) and no hot water tap on the sink - a very good shower though. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance. We recommend The Bar and Black and White (both across the road and on the beach). "

"Cocobay is a beautiful hotel with friendly and attentive staff members. After a week tour of Sri Lanka, it was the perfect place to relax for the last night of our trip."

"Had to wait over an hour past posted check in time. Was told some story about the AC, but, seems it was housekeeping as the floors were wet when we finally checked in. Room was run down..biggest issue was that neither of the two showers drained properly. In fact, sewage came up and created an offensive odor. This was reported to the front desk and repairs were attempted, but not done properly. So, the room still smelled BAD. Also, the workman left a BIG mess. I had to go to the front desk to ask to have it cleaned. While the manager was interested in our stay, all he did was provide a late day fruit plate! No thanks. Avoid this place. It is over priced for what you get. One of my worst stays ever."
