Casita Juliet in Taos, New Mexico

Casita Juliet has it all for the single traveler or couple. Located on a quiet, downtown street and short walk to Taos Plaza. It is a one bedroom (Queen) little home with a well equipped kitchen, separate eating area, large living room. It is decorated in my style of antiques, art and whimsy.
Casita Juliet has all appliances, dishes and kitchenware, towels and bedding in a charming intimate yet roomy little house. Ceiling fans in bedroom and living room as well as screened windows and door for summer visits. Electric baseboard heaters in all rooms insure cozy winter stays. It has two outdoor living areas and of course a ridiculous number of plants--a signature of mine...
Although there are two homes on this property, both have a feeling of privacy with separate off street parking, garden and outdoor living spaces.
Casita Juliet can also be combined with the main house 'Casa Madre' as a family compound for a larger group of up to 10.
As with all of my properties Casita Juliet is pet friendly. $10 per night per dog which may be left at departure. Dog sheets provided for sofa and bed. Mutt mitts for clean up. Front area is fenced so your small dog can spend time with you on front patio/portal.
If Casita Juliet is booked for your dates, please look at vrbo 797997 (Casa Azul) or Vrbo 920144 (Casa Verde) which are also downtown one bedroom casitas.
Please note Casita Juliet can be booked with Vrbo 482097 on the same property for larger groups.

Very cute space
Very nice and well decorated place. Everything was great except we couldn't manage to get the TV to work. Other than that it was a full 5 star rating.

Charming
We loved staying at Casita Juliet. The parking is right at the casita. It was quiet and the bed very comfortable. It’s spacious with a lovely side room, kitchen table and a back room with a washer/dryer. Everything you need in the kitchen is supplied. We loved the outdoor space as well. We would definitely stay here again. We also walked into town which was nice.

Blissful Retreat
My husband and I enjoyed this home so much we didn't want to leave, and would have loved calling it home! Melissa was the most gracious host, offering everything we need in her cute and creatively remodeled home. The vibrance and eclectic style poured out of every corner of the home, making it all the more fun to stay!

Off the charts adorable
We had a large family gathering and added this one on to the house in front (casa Madre) and it couldn't have been more perfect. Only problem was figuring out who got to stay in this sweet little cottage!Comfy, self contained and with its own little patio this is a winner of a spot. I want to come stay here again. Melissa is the consummate host: there to help when you need it but not intrusive.

Wonderfully Charming Space!
Just returned from a weekend getaway, staying in Casita Juliet. This property is fantastic for a single person or a couple. The pictures cannot possible show the unbelievable charm this place has! I stayed there 3 days and 2 nights with my dog, and we had a fabulous time. Quaint, private, safe and in walking distance of Guadalupe Plaza with many restaurants and shops. It was more than I was expecting, and I am definitely looking forward to staying there again someday! Melissa was great with my last-minute travel decision. Traveler Tip: the hot water in the shower is actually the "cold" handle ;-)

Cute house in Taos
Casita Juliet was very cute and I'd stay there again. The unit itself was great, but Wifi / internet were constantly in and out , and there is no cable. Of course none of this is an issue if you are trying to completely unplug :) Also, the hot and cold water was switched in the shower which took a little time to figure out. A little further from the Plaza than I'd thought, but cute and charming!

A place to remember
Sometimes we stay somewhere and we know we want to return. This is one of those places. We enjoyed the entire casita, cooking, listening to records and watching a dvd in the beautiful living room. Even the shower was great. We sat on the porch and watched a beautiful sunset in Taos. The owner is very friendly and she even cooperated in mailing my favorite moccasins that I left behind. I highly recommend Casita Juliet...it is so welcoming and full of beautiful art. A must see is the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Taos Pueblo, eat at Orlando's restaurant. If you are ever there on 4th of July go to Arroyo Seco's parade...it is really funky and loads of fun.

Comfortable for a short stay
Tucked away behind another property and will be private if adjoining property does not have guests that entertain outdoors. Lovely little patio for reading and drinks. No ceiling fan in bedroom and July is warm in Taos, even with open windows. Clean property with comfortable beds and linens. Was unable to get cable TV and Wifi was almost nonexistent. That may just be a problem in Taos. Really should paint over the bathroom glass door.

Disliked: Communication
Nice but I was expecting more garden
Half of the reason I choose this property was because of the garden pictures in the ad. But all the flower baskets were empty (mid August). There were some flowers on the other property adjacent. The other half of my reason for choosing this property was that it had a fenced yard (more like a run) which was awesome. My dogs and I could just hang out together. I liked it enough I would go again but I just wouldn't hope for flowers.

Quaint Casita Juliet
My cousin and I arrived on Wednesday, September 30th for a 3 day ,2 night stay in the adorable Casita Juliet. We just loved everything about this casita. The decor of antiques, Spanish Tile, vivid colors and cozy atmosphere was not only comforting but also relaxing . I live in the middle of a forest in a log home; my cousin lives in a busy heavily trafficed metropolitian city. The close walk to the plaza as well as many tourist attractions was easily accomplished. After a hard day of sight seeing and spending money , the 2 patios were a welcome and cherished end of the day cocktail celebration. Mellissa joined us one evening for wine and snacks. Early morning was coffee on the front patio wearing the soft robes provided for guests. What a joy to begin the day as such. All our needs or desires were met due to the well stocked kitchen, bathroom and laundry room. We had a wonderful time and I plan to return again. I will not hesitate to recommend any of Melissa's VRBO to everyone I know.

Reservation switched without my consent
I reserved Casa Juliet, but an hour before I was to leave on my trip I received an email from the owner telling me that she was extending the stay for the previous occupant and moving me to a different property. She informed me that Casa Azul was better and I would like it. She never updated my reservation to indicate that I was staying at Casa Azul although I asked her to, so I could reference the property listing. I just got an email with directions and a door code. Casa Azul was generally comfortable, although it did not have all the features I had used when I made my selection. There were 2 problems though: a refrigerator door that sticks and has to be kicked shut every time you close the door as it does not really fit between the counters, and very inferior quality (polyester) sheets. I remade the bed with the dog sheets (cotton) and we slept on those, which were fine.
