"What a beautiful property! We had an hours-long tour with Kathy, the caretaker, who lives in a cottage at the back of the property. There was so much to explore! The kids loved the pool. We played tennis. We walked, and walked, and walked. Quirky, and fun! Kathy and the team go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Beds were comfy, and lots of care taken to keep the place clean and visually interesting. Enjoy! "

"We were met at the gate by Sophie, property manager, who took us on a tour through her beautiful gardens and who was kind, welcoming and helpful throughout our four night stay. Jam, milk, cofee and tea were provided for us. The cottage is clean and well set out, with the second bed being a sofa bed which was suitable for one daughter but wouldn't have suited both. "The meals were very generous and good pub fare. The room was not heated at all, so be aware in winter it's cold!! An electric blanket would have been helpful. That said, the blankets were warm. Wifi didn't work in the rooms, so we weren't able to watch anything or plan the next day (no tv). Wifi worked in the shared lounge and in the bar. "Almost don't want to say how great this is in case I can't get another booking! Was so nice to be somewhere quiet and private with plenty of room for multigenerational family and several dogs. Everything was great and comfortable, and the owner was lovely to deal with. Such a great holiday!"

The cleanliness was way below average, with lots of cobwebs, dirty bed linen, towels, floors and outdoor sitting area. Several safety hazards were also quite concerning - broken bed slats in the master bedroom, a broken ladder on the bunk bed, broken dishwasher and poor electrical wiring in the living room which tripped the circuit breaker. "We were roadtripping from Adelaide to Melbourne and overnighted in Mt. Gambier. We were a family of 5 so we only had access to the main house. It sleeps 10, but 5 or less people only access the main house. Overall, I would recommend this place and think they've done a great job. It's right off a main road and does have some constant traffic, but the noise wasn't too much of an issue. The decor and comfort was reasonable and we did make use of the washing machine. The dryer hadn't been cleaned...

The town is close to so many fantastic places such as Penola, Coonawarra wineries, national park and beaches at Southend and Beachport.
