Only issues I had were the following: if you don't rent or own a car, getting around will be somewhat inconvenient unless you're willing to shill out taxi fees. "Overall a very good stay for family travellers. Huge hot spring area, buffet and proximity to the national park for a reasonable premium. The immediate surrounding area is walkable. To reach Kirishima Jingu and trail heads inside NP you need a car. Bus routes run only 2-4 times a day. If you have to take a bus watch out for departure times."
