Gorgeous Cabin Overlooking The Shenandoah River - 2 bedrooms ~ 2 lofts

The 'Eagles Nest River Cabin' towers over a beautiful stretch of the Shenandoah River where the water meanders and swirls over a long stretch of underwater ledges and rocks. The 75' span of private river frontage offers steps and a floating dock for easy access to the river for swimming, wading, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, or just lounging in a chair. The fishing is the best around as the river offers a healthy population of small and large mouth bass. Waterfowl and other birds are abundant (over 50 species documented) and bald eagles are occasionally spotted. There is a public landing and parking at the bridge just up river providing for float trip opportunities down to the property. 2 canoes included at nominal fee so you can either canoe the Shenandoah River or just stretch back in a tube and float your day away (tubes available at reasonable price at Luray Super Walmart).

Sleeping 8, this cabin is beautiful inside and out representing the quintessential vacation cabin with white knotty pine interior, vaulted ceiling, 2 bedrooms, 2 lofts, a fully equipped kitchen and a huge front porch that overlooks the entire stretch of river. At the base of the steps of the cabin is a charcoal grill, table and chairs for easy outdoor grilling and dining. The spacious side and front yards offer plenty of room for group games such as volleyball, croquet, corn hole and horse shoes. The back of cabin is in view of the historic Norfolk Southern railroad. The freight trains rumble by the cabin without whistle approximately 3 to 5 times per day.

Centrally located just 15 miles from Massanutten Ski & Indoor/Outdoor Water Park Resort and historic Luray featuring Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America and an internationally acclaimed destination. The Shenandoah National Park is also internationally acclaimed featuring breathtaking views from the Skyline Drive (Swift Run Gap access point only 17 miles) and various distance trail hikes to waterfalls and other natural attractions.

We hope that you will decide to come visit and firsthand experience all that the Shenandoah Valley Region has to offer and while lodging with us at the Eagles Nest River Cabin. Fun is Waiting!

Cabin by the river
Quaint, charming cozy cabin overlooking the river with Beautiful views of the mountains. We enjoyed the firepit in the evenings and sitting by the river in the early mornings. Canoes available but no access to launch across from property, need trailer or truck. Bathroom was small could use extra hooks kitchen equipped including kurig/coffee p

VRBNO
If you don’t mind lack of basic hygiene, pests livimg with you, and eating off dirty dishes, then stay here. There were a couple remnants of toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, so it had to be rationed. While on the topic of bathrooms; there was no soap in the bathroom. There were multiple bottles of sanitizer, but no soap. Speaking of sanitizer. The bottle of sanitizer had a family of dead bugs in it. But the silver lining here is that I learned sanitizer doubles as a pest trap! While on the topic of pests, there was a critter (likely a mouse?) scurrying around the bedroom during the night. It was not the serenade to sleep we had hoped for. While on the topic of sleep, there were no sheets on the beds. There was a fitted sheet and a comforter, but no flat sheet. So apparently we got to sleep under the same unwashed comforter as past guests. And speaking of sharing with past guests, we also got to share their food on the unwashed dishes that still had food remnants on them. Just building our taste palates over here. After such an amazing experience, we decided to forego a 2nd night’s stay and opted to drive home early to nice stay in our home which has basic hygiene products and good pest control. We were escorted off the premises by a swarm of yellow jackets. They were the same fierce protectors that had allegedly been eradicated (per previous reviews/owner responses). This was a giant VRBNo!

This is unique property in a quiet riverside neighborhood. The trains were interesting to watch. It has great river access with calmer water. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. Interior space was comfortable and the host was very cordial. Great trip for my husband, pup, and I.

River cabin
Property is as described! Lots of time not the case. Cabin had plenty of space for 6 adults for a week stay. River was super nice. Really enjoyed the stay and would stay again. Was a very hot week, the two window AC units had to run non-stop to keep the cabin somewhat cool. On a normal week they probably suffice. Road divides the cabin from the river and it is busy at times.

Not as advertised, not for people w. mobility issues
We really wanted to like this cabin since reviews were great. Upon arrival, the handrails leading up to the cabin were covered in bugs and spiders, and we counted at least 2 wasps nest. The stairs were quite steep, as were the makeshift steps leading down to the tiny “fishing dock”. For anyone with any mobility issues due to age or disability, this is not your property. Unless you can jump the 2 - 3 feet from the muddy bank onto the dock, you have to walk up/downstream for a different fishing spot. This property was advertised as air conditioned. Given the 95F heat, this was a must at booking. Only the two main bedrooms have window units, with one not working for the first 24 hours. Someone came by to put in a replacement, but there was no sleeping that first night. There are 2 ceiling fans in the kitchen/dining/living and 2 loft bedroom areas. Air did not move and it got too unbearable to be inside during the day. At night, even opening the windows barely allowed for air circulation or cooldown. The bedroom and living room furniture is not for comfort. The futon and armchairs in the living area were more uncomfortable than the plain dining chairs. The kitchen did have the utensils, pots and pans needed to cook and have family meals, and the dining table was large enough to play board games on. The single bathroom is tiny, and the glass shower door is held together with a makeshift hook screw. Not sure how it’s in the winter, but this cabin isn’t comfortable in the summer!

We enjoyed our stay overall, loved the cabin! The location was the only real drawback. The cabin sat very close to a road that has quite a bit of traffic and high speeds, so letting the grandkids outside by themselves was a problem..

Lovely, cozy little cabin nestled next to the river. There were four of us, which felt like a perfect amount but the cabin can sleep up to seven, including the futon. Two rooms (four beds) are lofted and the cabin is up a long staircase, so not recommended for those with difficulty climbing stairs. Very clean and hospitable with clear, easy check- in/out instructions and plenty of pots, pans, and dishware. Because it's on stilts the cabin shakes a little when people are moving about but it didn't keep us awake. We had a very pleasant stay!

Great getaway by the Shenandoah river!
We are a family of 5 with 2 dogs and the cabin was perfect for us! There was plenty of room with the 2 bedrooms and 2 lofts (each loft had 2 mattresses). The view from the balcony was beautiful overlooking the river! The cabin was fully stocked with towels, pans, plates, cups and silverware. Underneath the cabin is a great little enclosed area for our dogs while we used the Webber grill to cook hamburgers. We brought our 2 kayaks and used one of the canoes at the cabin to go explore the river. We also went on a great hike (Mary's Rock Summit) which was only a 1/2 hour away. We all had a great time getting away and spending time together in a beautiful location! We would definitely go back! Thank you!

An Unplugged Getaway
Let me start off by saying, if you or your children can't be away from a TV for too long this is not the place for you. However, if your goal is to get your family out and about and away from electronics then this is the place for you! There's still internet so your phones, laptops, tablets, etc work but my goal was to get my son to take a break from all of that for awhile and he did! We got to play games - cards, Battleship - and just talk as a family. He LOVED playing in the loft area but decided to sleep in the bedroom with the AC since it was early July. The canin was just the right size for us to relax but I was still able to cook a few meals. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans. The water access was incredible! We spent 5+ hours everyday in the river - swimming, fishing, kayaking and tubing. We brought my husbands kayak so he could fish from it and we purchased inner tubes at Walmart that were already inflated for about $8. We ventured into Luray for the caverns, dinner and icee cream. Shenandoah National Park was about 40 minutes away through the Thorton Gap wntrance. We hiked in the park in the morning and hungout in the river in the afternoon. It was a wonderful vacation and much needed!!
