"Kakanui is a beautiful small town with lots of activities to offer. Kim is easy to communicate with. The place is clean and has what you need to eat at home and sleep well. Comfy beds, and warm blankets. The sunroom is lovely with a fantastic view of Kakanui beach and the rivermouth. Nice garden to walk around the property. Kind neighbors too. We will stay there again"

However the email that arrived just prior to check-in that advised the use of earplugs to block the sound of traffic and trains…well it was good advice, but arrived a little too late. "The Poshtel is truly a boutique hotel with only a handful of rooms that are all themed and unique. Rooms are a good size and very clean, but be prepared for a bit of noise (not too bad). The units fronting onto the main street have the usual traffic going by, and when we were put on the back side I thought it was a bonus - until the delivery trucks arrived to restock the grocery store, then the backup beepers started. That said, it wasn't too bad. The hotel itself and the staff (every one of them smiling and wonderful) easily made up for that tiny glitch. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Omaru."
