Rock Hall on the water

*New 2023*
- Refinished ground level (two doubles with en suite full bath)
- Full house HVAC (AC and Heat)

Built in 1804 this beautiful home sits on the edge of Little Wicomico river. Having its own private dock and just steps from Smith Point Marina our home is great for boaters. We also provide two kayaks (and lifejackets). As children, we used to swim off the dock or tie on a raft and drift until dinner. Fishing and crabbing is welcomed! There are a few public beaches nearby if the dock life isn't for you- "Neals Beach" being 2.5 miles down the road, "Vir-Mar Beach" and "Ginny Beach" both across the Little Wicomico River and roughly 20 minutes by car.

Come relax and enjoy the sounds and views of the water.

Rock Hall is a gorgeous Center Hall Greek Revival home. This amazing home has incredible history and has been lovingly restored, mixing it's history with all the modern comforts. The kitchen steps out onto the back porch allowing you an amazing breakfast view to the water, the large living room welcomes the whole family, pups included! We have installed Cable and high speed satellite internet (being so remote, this is our only option). The three TV's are "smart" allowing you to log into your own subscriptions if you please, these are located in living room and the two bedrooms on the second floor (Master and double Queen rooms). The ground level has been refunished and hosts two double beds with a full bathroom. The third floor has two cleared rooms, allowing for blow up mattresses, etc if you so please.

Reedville is a small town with a few restaurants and ice cream parlors scattered about. Kilmarnock is roughly a 20 minute drive and has everything else you could ask for.

Beautiful location
Rock Hall is a beautiful property that is nicely situated between several quaint towns. We loved the space and the large yard for the kids and dog to run. I do feel that it was a bit overpriced for what the house offers. In contrast to other rentals I found this to be quite stark and lacking in the comforts that I look for during a stay. The house is very minimally furnished and there were no comfort items to be found. It would have been nice to have a flashlight for walking through the field at night, a throw blanket for cold evening or even a bottle of big spray or a roll of paper towels. The house is currently for sale and needed basic maintenance (the majority of light bulbs were burnt out, doors did not latch, chairs that were bolted to the dock were broken and in the way when fishing etc). We had no cell service and the internet was spotty so we couldn’t even reach out to communicate to the owners (who we never heard from from booking to leaving). This could have been a 10 out of 10 stay but unfortunately missed the mark this time.

Overall we had a nice stay as the location of the house and the property are lovely and provide a lot of privacy. We were disappointed at the number of things that were broken or not provided (although they were mentioned on the amenities list). The property is currently up for sale and it seems the owners are no longer as interested in keeping up the property anymore.

RELAXING TIME ON PORCH!
OVER ALL, WE CAN'T GIVE IT A FIVE STAR RATING BUT IT DOES HAVE ITS GOOD POINTS! NICELY SECLUDED FROM OTHER PROPERTIES WHICH GIVES YOU A VERY PRIVATE STAY. THE HOUSE IS WELL KEPT BUT UNFORTUNATELY A FEW DRAW BACKS. CLEANING STAFF COULD DO A BETTER JOB. INSIDE MICROWAVE WAS VERY DIRTY, BATHROOMS OK BUT NOT EXCEPTIONAL. BEDS WERE GREAT AND COMFORTABLE. INCONSISTANT WITH TOILETRIES IN BATHROOMS. AND NOT HAVING A BATHROOM ON THE MAIN LEVEL WHERE WE ENJOYED THE PORCH MOST OF THE TIME WAS A REAL DOWNSIDE. BY THE PICTURES THE PIER WAS IN SITE OF THE HOME BUT DEFINITELY NOT. QUITE A WALK! AND POOR BOARDING. WE TRAVEL AND USUALLY USE AN ARBNB. WOULD WE CHOOSE THIS ONE AGAIN. PROBABLY IF WE HAD A BATHROOM ON THE MAIN LEVEL!

Neat house but...
We were scouting this house as a potential place to bring friends, and while we really liked the house there are a few things we noticed that might make us hesitant to bring a larger group. The ground floor was badly in need of vacuuming and there was hair in the shower drain. We never could connect to internet and had no cell service so couldn't even let anyone know. Finally, the water has a highly sulfur odor. Overall it seemed no-one had been in the house in a while and it needed some more attention before renting.

Beautiful Rock Hall
Beautiful house and beautiful location. Unbelievable historic charm! Great property/grounds. We loved the walk down to the Little Wicomico Pier could use a little maintenance-deckboards and secure ladder. Bath towels had stains. Some minor maintenance needs around the house-light bulbs, loose hinges, exterior door handle loose. Restaurants in the area seem to be a little hit or miss....only recommendations from our stay would be pizza from The Dairy Barn in Burgess & breakfast from Fawn's Delectable Cafe in Reedville Still enjoyed the stay and would stay again. 100% would recommend without hesitation

Lovely Historic Home
The architecture and historic feel of the home was amazing. As noted by others, the top floor bedrooms were exceptionally hot, and the lack of a bathroom on that floor was inconvenient. The basement level has been finished nicely with a lovely bathroom but there was no furniture on that level and therefore the rooms were unusable. It would have been better to be able to use those rooms for sleeping vs. the top level. The second floor bathrooms have been nicely renovated. It's a walk to the river, but once there, we found the dock was delightful, and the onsite kayaks were great! We had a great afternoon and saw only one jellyfish as compared to others who posted. An upgrade to more comfortable furniture in the living room would make for more inviting family gatherings. All in all, we had a great stay!

Beautiful home, couple things to note before booking
We had a wonderful weekend at Rock Hall! We were two families of four people each (two adults and two kids). Two things we wished we were aware of when booking--the two bathrooms on the second floor are only accessible through the bedrooms. If you sleep in one of the third floor bedrooms, you would have to go to the basement to access a bathroom in the night (there's no bathroom on the main floor) if you didn't want to walk through a bedroom and risk waking anyone up. Also, the third floor bedrooms get very hot, especially in 90+ degree days when the house thermostat has been sitting at 75 degrees. The first night we had to take cold showers before getting in bed. It would be much more comfortable it someone adjusted the thermostat before guests arrive so the third floor has time to cool off, and if the owner provided fans. Finally, the dock access is beautiful, but the jellyfish are rampant. One of the kids went swimming and the jellyfish got under his life jacket. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least. Aside from those factors, the house really is picturesque!

A beautiful historic home on a quiet piece of property
We enjoyed our stay in the home. We were attracted to it because it was listed as a historic home. The owners are doing a great job of renovating the home to modern standard, while still keeping the historic look and feel. The wood floors and the stairs are gorgeous. It amazes me how roomy historic homes can feel, yet they are smaller in square footage by comparison to most modern homes. It also amazes me how well they are architected to provide lighting, air flow and natural cooling. We found that ceiling fans and the breezeway worked just fine to provide a nice evening cool down. In addition to the home, you get a large piece of property that sits on the water. We enjoyed watching the wildlife cross the property throughout the day (including, fox, deer, rabbits, and many others). We also enjoyed relaxing on the dock while enjoying the constant cool breeze. If you have not spent time on the Chesapeake or Potomac, it's worth seeing them in real life. We were amazed at how big the Chesapeake is. One tip I would suggest for potential renters looking at this property, if you are NOT familiar with the bayside area: while it was hot in the middle of the day, the breeze off the water kept it comfortable. It did get chilly at night, so it's worth bringing some long sleeves and a pair of pants. Outside play at night, does require mosquito spray. It's not unbearable. It's more of an annoyance. Also, bring a flashlight it you plan to be outside at night. It gets very dark at night.

Beautiful, big home and views
A spacious home with access to ample yard and water for kayaking and other adventures. You can't beat the morning sunrise views and star-gorged sky at night. Home is still under some renovation but mostly complete. Only (slight) inconvenience/confusion was not having the clothes washer yet hooked up in the basement. Reedville also is a close, quaint town. You'll enjoy the local restaurants.

Beautiful region to explore
My small family enjoyed our three weeks in this house and really enjoyed exploring the natural surrounding areas. The house is pretty comfortable and stylish. We really appreciated the kayaks and made the most of them, while spending some time on the dock swimming and watching the beautiful birds. Note that for individuals seeking to work remotely, the internet is very choppy. Fine if you are looking to unplug. As others have mentioned both bathrooms are en-suite to the bedrooms, so better for a small family. We really enjoyed being away from it all and how rural and low-key the area is. There are a couple of decent restaurants but we found the absolute best quality food to be at a casual roadside diner called Newsomes.

Wonderful throwback home updated on the bay
This 1804 home was of great interest with most of the modern home features not lost. The house is about 80% complete, upgraded to today. It is spacious and airy and has a most amenities of a modern home. Out of the backdoor, there is a boat/crabbing/fishing pier (about 600 feet away). The distance, allows the wildlife (deer, groudhogs, and rabbits) to cross a grass area from a forest to crops. It is a country life and only about 12 miles from down town Reedville. We had a great time!

It was quite hot while we were there but central air made the house quite comfortable. The house was gorgeous. The views from the house were incredible. Lovely Remote Getaway
The house was a lovely home. Very clean and cool. The host was extremely responsive. The 1/2 bath was temporarily out of commission due to renovation. The beds/rooms were great, however with 7 adults, the seating was limited in both the living room and around the table. I'd say best suited for 6 in the common areas. Super remote, but that can be a great thing if you really need to getaway!

Beautiful but there were some problems
The house was beautiful, however, when we arrived there were multiple 5 gallon buckets filled with cement and spackle and water left around outside (we had dogs with us as well) and the toilet/half bath was not able to be used to due construction, which we were not made aware of. We had 4 adults and 4 children so the extra toilet would have been a huge help. Besides that, the house was exactly as expected.
