Welcome to Lara Grove Cottage by Tiny Away! The ideal tiny house Victoria retreat + country escape surrounded by a small mixed farming and horticulture operation. A cozy farm stay with all the modern amenities of home, with Highland cattle, dairy cows, and old breed pigs to keep you company. What's more, we have a large orchard, a vegetable garden, a honey bee farm, and we even make cheese and butter from our dairy cows.

The Space:
Lara Grove Cottage by Tiny Away is located in Purdeet, just an hour's drive from Ballarat and 49 minutes away from Warrnambool. A coastal city located along the Great Ocean Road, known for its art, stunning parks, recreational activities, and arrival of Southern Right Whales for calving in winter.
Hopkins Falls and the coastal town of Port Fairy are popular attractions in the area. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful beach, visit the Port Fairy Lighthouse, and explore Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve.
It's a 139-square-foot tiny home situated in a paddock where you can wake up to a stunning sunrise from your bedroom window and enjoy a view of our Highland Cattle grazing about. Easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and the main paddock. But will have restricted access to our sheds and other paddocks.
There are farm tours available under your host's close supervision. If you're interested, contact your land host 24 hours in advance.

- Hopkins Falls is a scenic location that's perfect for picnics, fishing, and walks. Gas barbecues and toilets are available for visitors.
- The Grampians is renowned for its picturesque waterfalls, blooming wildflowers, and bushwalking paths amidst indigenous wildlife.
- Port Fairy is a coastal town known for its stunning beach and exciting water sports. Popular attractions include Port Fairy Lighthouse and Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve.
- Hamilton, also known as the "Wool Capital of the World," is located 30 minutes away passed by the town of Penshurst. It is most famous for Lake Hamilton, a popular destination for fishing, boating, cycling, picnics, and more.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 21 mins drive from Dukeld
- 30 mins drive from Hamilton
- 51 mins drive from Port Fairy
- 10 mins drive from Penshurst
- 49 mins drive from Warrnambool
- 1 hr and 6 mins drive from Halls Gap
- 3 hrs and 23 mins drive from Melbourne. All are accessible by 2WD.
By public transport:
- There are taxis in Hamilton that do come our way but it is quite expensive.
- Vline runs a bus and train service from Melbourne to Hamilton through either Ballarat or Warrnambool.
- There is no public transport past our property, access would be by private vehicle. However, we would offer pick up from Penshurst for a fee.
Other Things to Note:
- Gas BBQ Grill is available
- No smoking allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- We are happy to provide breakfast ingredients at an extra cost
- Telstra and Optus have good signals and the rest have no signal
- We do have dogs on our property but they will not be close to the tiny house
- Bacon, eggs, cereal, and toast with spreads for breakfast are available by prior notice
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Guest Advisory
- Please note that our sheds contain sharp tools and machinery
- Guests will have restricted access to all paddocks except during farm tours.
- Guests will only have access to the main house in case of maintenance, repair, medical assistance, or "Evening with your Hosts" events.
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property.
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
