"We are so happy we stayed at Akwaba Lodge. The grounds are well maintained and we had opportunity to walk around and explore. "This property is a gem! We stayed a week in December and had an all around lovely stay. The bungalows were clean and so relaxing. "This was the perfect ecolodge on the water! Maria, who owns and manages the lodge, always went over and above for our family to arrange day trips/boat rides to town and provided amazing travel guidance. We needed to charge our phones at reception but it was a small price to pay for a beautiful and unique Panama experience with great rooms and gorgeous views. We ate our breakfasts and lunches on site but preferred the restaurants in town for dinner. Our teens loved it and want to go back! Highly recommend! "

"Loved it here! We stayed at Oasis Bluff Beach Resort for 3 nights. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, and beautiful atmosphere.....this is the place! Right on the beach, lush jungle behind. Often, we had the beach all to ourselves and at most there might have been 10-12 people. It is a popular beach for surfing and it was fun to watch the surfers. Waves seemed too big for swimming, but a nice beach for sitting and walking. It is a mid-range eco resort with a great restaurant and bar. Lots of variety and every meal was excellent. You can have food/drinks delivered on the beach or eat on the deck of the hotel with a view of the beach. It is not very big, so not crowded and very personalized. The owner & staff are super nice and friendly. Always willing to help. They will help you schedule excursions and taxis. There are fun things to do at the hotel.....pool table, ping pong, foosball, bocce, books, board games, etc. I give 5/5 stars for this resort and the location. I give 0 stars for the road to get to the resort. That's the only thing I didn't care for. For about 18 minutes of the ride, it is a narrow, dirt road with major potholes all over. Very bumpy. I can't imagine what it's like when it is raining. The condition of the road is probably why this area is not overly developed. Which is a good thing. It keeps the vibe nice, and not busy. But, I think it would be more comfortable with a paved road. "

Gorgeous spot

"This place is a dream. The room was amazing, the shuttle service around the property and the staff was perfect. The beach is gorgeous. We had a private pool that was cold and in the shade most of the time, so we spent more time in the beach club and the ocean. I would caution you that this resort is in the middle of nowhere. Bring cash for tips (no ATMs on the island), and definitely any medications you might need. I got a cold on the plane and there is no pharmacy anywhere nearby…the front desk managed to get me some lozenges about 10 hours after I asked, but no decongestant. There is a tiny store on the property but very little in it. The main town is $10 a person one way by water taxi, which makes getting decongestant very pricey. Also, there was only one restaurant open on the property. There are supposed to be four in the vicinity, but there were only two: the La Rosa beach club and Palmar (on the public beach). Fortunately both were very good, and we enjoyed eating the same excellent seared ahi night after night. When we left there was a discrepancy between the room charge and the hotels.com receipt, so they had to figure that out and it took some time, but they fixed it. The guy at the desk and all the staff really went above and beyond. "

"A most enjoyable 9-day stay in this historic hotel right in the centre of Bocas Town. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good and varied, and the restaurant very good too. Given the historic nature of the building, the rooms don't have much drawer storage, but we did have a refrigerator and a good sized ocean-facing balcony. Highly recommended. "
