The property was within extremely close walking distance to many restaurants and a few grocery/convenient stores. I wish there were some stores for clothing and souvenirs but we ended getting that at the airport on our way back. The hotel is right on the beach, which is the best beach on the island! The beach in front of La Playa is also one of the less crowded areas. We walked most of the orient beach and other areas are crowed and/or full of seaweed. The staff here are all very friendly and helpful. We took a taxi to the Dutch side a couple of times which was $40 (kinda pricey in my opinion!) the hotel called for us each time. Takes about 30 mins when there is no traffic, ask the front desk for the best times. I would recommend La Playa to everyone!!! Very quiet and beautiful!!

The only real positive was the proximity to the beach, but even that was tainted by the lackluster service at both the beach and restaurant. I later learned the attendants and staff aren’t employed by the hotel, which explains the dismissive attitude, they seemed to treat hotel guests with a certain contempt, clearly prioritizing cruise ship passengers and outside chair rentals, or regulars, which appear to be their main source of revenue. As a hotel guest, you’re an afterthought. It left a bad taste in my mouth. The price simply doesn’t match the service or accommodations, and I wouldn’t stay here again, though I might return to rent beach chairs while staying elsewhere nearby.

Over all good experience. Improvements needed: thicker bath towels, face towels need to be provided, hair conditioner needs to be added, and double the water for the room. They are skimping on things that are not that expensive based on the cost of the rooms. Beach experience was great with good customer service.

During my stay at La Playa Orient Bay in St Martin, I was impressed by the great service and the spacious, beautifully decorated rooms. Though the ocean view is more of a partial view, it's still a delight to wake up to the soothing sound of waves each morning. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and the staff at the reception were incredibly helpful and welcoming. One minor hassle was the beach towels policy, as you can't change them during the day if they get dirty. However, I do appreciate their effort towards minimizing environmental impact. The breakfast could use an upgrade; it’s not bad if you're staying for a few days, but the lack of variety may become monotonous if you're here for an extended period. The beach itself is stunning and the on-site restaurant offers delightful meals. The hotel's surrounding area is amazing too, with plenty of fantastic restaurants within walking distance. Overall, La Playa Orient Bay is a great choice for a relaxing stay in St Martin, despite a few minor inconveniences.

La posizione sulla spiaggia ( che chiude alle 17!) è ottima, ma il rapporto qualità/prezzo insostenibile . Colazione sempre uguale e poco curata , nessun succo o spremuta di frutta fresca (ai Caraibi!!). Buono il ristorante ( con personale gentile e preparato ) ma aperto solo a pranzo . Per 600 euro al giorno (bed and breakfast) ci aspettavamo almeno gli accappatoi…. La SPA piccolissima , la piscina idem. E per un late check out ( alle 14 anziché alle 11) ci hanno chiesto 200 euro. Peccato.

Rooms were excellent, spacious and modern, but I found two cockroaches in the bathroom during my stay, and the towels were old and worn. Extra towels were not provided upon request. Coffee was available in the room but every time I asked for more (coffee at breakfast was bad), I was told that guests are only allowed two coffee capsules per day per room. Breakfast was below average. Breakfast hours were 7 am to 10 pm. One morning I wanted to take a piece of bread at 10:10 am, and bread was still out on the bread board. I was told by staff that I was not allowed to take it because breakfast was over at 10 am. The next day I came a little after 7 am, but yogurt was not available until 7:15. Despite a good location, I will not choose this hotel again.

The check will n could have been more pleasant. It was rules on rules with lots of info to process and restrictions. Not very personal. The room read ocean view and was not. It was blocked with a view of the garden and the restaurant.

Staff were wonderful and very attentive. Location is amazing; walkable to restaurants, grocery store, and beaches: complementary breakfast every morning was top notch. Will definitely stay here again next time

The location at Orient Bay is perfect. Just a few steps from a beautiful beach and comfortable lounge chairs. The restaurant for lunch is delicious and very convenient to have the food brought to you at the beach. Proximity to the plaza with about 10 different restaurants, most of them delicious. Some areas of improvement/caution: - Breakfast, which was included was the same every day. A little variety would be good. - They give you a card per person that you exchange for a beach towel every day and get back when you return the towel; you get a bracelet to identify you as a guest for breakfast or beach chairs; and then you have your key card. Lose any of these and they charge you. Most resorts I have been to don’t do this. A bit too much to worry about for someone trying to relax on vacation. - No dinner served at the hotel restaurant.

We had a superb week at La Playa! All came as advertised. The room was modern, comfortable and quiet. The beach is gorgeous - pristine sand with easy access to the warm, turquoise water. It certainly can be windy at times but you can always find respite in the pool area if you’d like, and if water sports are your thing you’ll be in heaven. The staff were all very friendly and a great source of advice about anything you may want to do outside the resort. Particular shout out to Elena, whom we happened to interact with most at the front desk. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in the village, along with a small grocery store. Combined with the resort’s breakfast, we had no shortage of food options. One thing to be aware of is that there are no ATM’s within walking distance, so it’s best to get some cash at the airport for tips or small purchases. Not a problem if you rent a car but taxis can get expensive in a hurry. Already thinking of our next trip to the island!
