From Bayeux, we rented a car from Hertz, which is 10 minute drive from the hotel (take a a taxi) and drove around this beach and Utah, Point du Hoc, cemetery, museums, etc. For us this worked out the best and allowed us to visit locations at our own pace and flexibility.
Interesting with a historical guide...we went with Bayeux Shuttle's half-day tour which gave us a great deal of background and insight into the battles on D-Day.
I traveled the first week in April. We had some wind & rain but also sun. This was a great time to avoid the summer crowds.
Bayeux is close to Omaha Beach.
Take your time. Omaha Beach is a big place and takes time to drive to the various sections. Museum was worth it, an excellent first stop.
There nothing to see there, great beach but nothing left from the battle. Overlord Museum is great
