Ocean Springs Beach

Front Beach

For a great place to get fresh air and exercise while you’re visiting Biloxi or Ocean Springs, stop at this neighborhood beach.

Convenient to Ocean Springs and Biloxi, Front Beach is popular for walking and enjoying the sunset. Sunbathe on the soft, white sands of this Mississippi beach or go for a stroll. Feel free to bring your dogs, along with bags to pick up any of their waste. Look for blue crabs in the water or scurrying across the sand. Bring a volleyball to play on the available nets. If you want to swim, take a ferry to the barrier island, Ship Island.

Walk along the sand or on the paved and lighted walkway for more exercise. The Biloxi Bay Bridge is about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) to the west. Stop and view the marine-themed mosaic mural along the way. Inspect the boats of the Ocean Springs Yacht Club and stand under the bridge marveling at its construction high in the air.

Cross under the bridge to visit the Fishing Pier on Biloxi Bay. Fish from the shade of the four pavilions along the 1,320-foot (400-meter) length of the pier. Pick a spot nearby for a great location to get excellent sunset photos with the pier in the foreground.

From the eastern end of the beach, bring the kids inland and across the street to the Fort Maurepas Park to enjoy adventures on the playground shaped like a ship. Notice the statue of a man in a tri-corn hat. This is Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville, who established Fort Maurepas on this site in the late 1600s. The kids can pretend they are naval heroes or simply splash around on a hot day. Use the restrooms here and enjoy lunch at a picnic table beneath a large shady tree.

Drive east from the center of Biloxi to travel to Front Beach in less than 10 minutes. The beach is in Ocean Springs, just after crossing the Biloxi Bay Bridge. While in

Ocean Springs, spend some time at the Gulf Islands National Seashore to experience the bayous and coastline of this southern shore.

The beach was like 20 minutes away. It was fun and it wasn't packed. There was plenty of room for everyone. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day out there.

Water felt amazing but it’s not a pretty blue.

Beach needs daily patrol and cleanup. Water looked dirty. The city might need to look into ways to improve water quality and beautification of beaches
