「At the time of writing, this hotel has a 9.2 on Expedia. That is truly absurd. This hotel is old (they don’t call it “historic” for nothing) and run down (featuring peeling wallpaper, a saggy matress, threadbare carpet and a kitchen that looks like it was built in the 80s). Making things worse, there is literally not a single thing of interest in Kumara (it only exists because it is a stop on the West Coast Wilderness Trail). 「The house was well presented in a good location. Good amenities and space for couples. Two out of the three couples we were with did mention that the beds were quite uncomfortable and it was hard to have a good nights sleep. So it could be worth checking the mattresses. Also it was quite a late check in time considered it is winter, when we arrived we all needed a hot shower due to being out on the river all day but still had to wait for the hot water cylinder to heat up after arriving at 4pm....

「We had a good experience overall. We stayed for two nights, and the house had everything we needed—comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen with all the essentials, and a good wood fire. The host even provided some extra treats and stopped by to say hi and ensure we were settled. A thoughtful and welcoming stay.」

「The perfect get away in Iveagh Bay. The house equipped with everything you need and works well. It had the most amazing view and decks to enjoy it. Great little touches, with milk, coffee pods and cookies for when we arrived. Highly recommended. We will be back! 」
