"Everything is perfect! Staff is so awesome & Ryokan is well maintained. Only concerns are internet connection is bad & the constant phone call buzzing. Our check out is 10am but by 9:40am they’d started buzzing us."

"A beautiful place to stay in beautiful surroundings. Hiroki-san took great care of us from the beginning, explaining everything and serving our meals. He was very kind, patient with my attempts at speaking Japanese, and welcoming. The riverside room had an amazing view in the autumn. There were so many onsen to choose from, shared outdoor ones and six private ones, easily accessed. Extremely relaxing. The food was kaiseki style - many, many dishes. Absolutely delicious dinner and breakfast. The Kurokawa Onsen area is full of charm. We particularly enjoyed a local shop run by a man who makes pottery. He explained how they make the white glaze from a local plant. There are more onsen that you could possibly visit, but other than Yamabiko, I highly recommend the cave onsen at Shinmeikan and the beautiful outdoor one at Ikoi Ryokan (bear in mind I’ve only seen the men’s sections)."

"Comfortable stay at Baien resort and walking distance 10 mins to the lake and shopping trip. Took a taxi from Yufuin station and cost JPY800. We enjoyed our stroll and admiring the autum foliage while walking out to the lake. It has 2 nice private onsens and 1 separate public onsen for male and female. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, staff are friendly. Recommended and enjoyable stay. "

"Nice property just off the main street, near train station. It is pet friendly with 3 resident cats roaming around the lobby. You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."

"Quiet location just a short walk from the train station. Superb ryokan experience with modern amenities throughout. If you’re fortunate enough to get a room with a private onsen, you can enjoy all manner of luxury beyond the available public onsen facilities. A great option to spoil yourself, if even for a night or two. "

"There are many different choices of onsens in the ryokan. The staff are excellent as well, their english proficiency is one of the best I’ve seen as well. Although there were some incidents at the start when we check in, the staffs are very efficient at dealing with it. Overall I’ll recommend anyone who visits Kurokawa onsen to give this ryokan a try"

"Great location and helpful staff. The staff took care of everything for us including assuring our in room hot tub was working perfectly. We bought the three onsen pass and enjoyed going to three other location. We also went to Onsen Yumerindo which has a great outdoor onsen. Wonderful relaxing two nights."
