"Visited in December of 2024 on the way to Arizona, never knew what awaited us. Best breakfast options I have ever had at a hotel, so much variety. From bacon, eggs, the waffle & pancake machine, even goulash and diced potatoes. Tip the staff at breakfast area, they truly deserve it for all that work! Huge dining hall with tables set up in the middle, plenty of space. The rooms are also big, and there is so much space - granted, we had a first-floor room facing outward, so it was easy to carry things to and from the parking lot. Staff were very polite and helpful on top of that too. If I ever had a reason to stay in southern Colorado again, this would be the place."

"We haven’t stayed at the Strater for almost 20 years and are so glad, that having the opportunity to visit Durango again, we booked a room there again. The friends that we came to meet were enthralled by the music and fun we enjoyed together at the Diamond Belle on both nights of our stay. The only thing that we missed was an opportunity to have breakfast there like we did on our last stay. We don’t get to Durango often, and more’s the pity, but we love the town and the Strater is one of the highlights. We will certainly be back! "

"I chose this location because it was close to the train. I loved the walking path behind the hotel and the restaurant. Having Albertsons grocery store just across the parking lot was also very convenient. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Would stay again. "

"AMAZING! I loved our stay here so much that I’m already planning a trip back to MVNP just so we can stay here again. Incredible value for the price and so much fun! Our kids loved seeing the rooms with the waterbeds and trying out the phone booth. Our room was comfy and spacious. The only con is that the walls were very thin, but as long as your neighbor is respectful, it shouldn’t be an issue. 20/10 would stay again. "

"I like it because the staff were very friendly and easy to checked in, the property was quiet too. There was enough parking and the bathroom was clean even after the one night stay. I will recommend this place to everyone. I didn’t like the smoking though. "

"Great location next to rail yard and ambiance to go back to the 19th century. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, a 7:30 am train whistle may not be for everyone. "
