"The staff was excellent. They provided transportation to and from the train station. Very good food with attentive staff. We enjoyed the family onsen which you can reserve for 40 minutes. The futons (bedding) were a little on the thin side for me. Also the internet was on the weak side and slow. "

"There are many different choices of onsens in the ryokan. The staff are excellent as well, their english proficiency is one of the best I’ve seen as well. Although there were some incidents at the start when we check in, the staffs are very efficient at dealing with it. Overall I’ll recommend anyone who visits Kurokawa onsen to give this ryokan a try"

"Comfortable stay at Baien resort and walking distance 10 mins to the lake and shopping trip. Took a taxi from Yufuin station and cost JPY800. We enjoyed our stroll and admiring the autum foliage while walking out to the lake. It has 2 nice private onsens and 1 separate public onsen for male and female. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, staff are friendly. Recommended and enjoyable stay. "

"A wonderful experience to stay in this boutique ryokan. Imaishi San helped us on checking in, and introduced the all facilities. He also served us the Yufu Kabosu drink during the night cafe hours. The breakfast was really delicious and delightful."

"Everything about Nihon No Ashitaba was so incredibly beautiful, serene, and thoughtful. They offer a free shuttle everyday to Yufuin station where you can walk, shop, eat, and enjoy Yufuin. "Everything about staying here was great! I only speak English and Korean and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating! Especially the manager at the front desk. I got to meet and have simple conversations with the staff. Even the ones that only speak Japanese. They were all friendly and kind regardless of language barriers. "Nice property just off the main street, near train station. It is pet friendly with 3 resident cats roaming around the lobby. You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."
