"A great base to visit the snow monkeys. A beautiful and traditional onsen. The breakfast and dinner was served by older ladies that did not necessarily speak English but definitely kept trying to make it an amazing experience each time. The variety of the served food was just overwhelming. So delicious and always something freshly cooked right at your table. An opportunity to stay at traditional Japanese tatami room is a memorable experience. Free pick up from the railway station. "

"This Ryokan was quaint in the perfect way. It felt traditional without the modern flair. The owner was amazing and drove me to the snow monkey park at no cost. The onsen was perfect and tatami room was gorgeous. Amazing view around the town with the snow."

"Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was my first experience at a ryokan. Mainly chose this place because it is reasonably priced with private onsen and shower. The ryokan has both public and 3 private onsen. The private onsen goes by a simple manual reservation system by writing your name on the whiteboard outside the onsen if the onsen is not available. As the ryokan is not very big, there are not too many guests, it isn’t hard to book the private onsen. There is a sink and toilet in the room....

"We were picked up from the train and immediately got a ride to the monkey park, a major reason for our visit. The hotel then sent a shuttle to pick us up and return us to the hotel where our luggage had already been taken to the room. This was a more traditional place with shoe removal and slippers provided. Dinner was incredible despite my not loving a few of the items in the set course menu. Breakfast was equally fulfilling. We did not take advantage of the public onsens due to our short visit...

"We loved Kamei no Yu! The staff was welcoming and kind. Our room was lovely, clean and looked out onto the garden with lamps. We recieved a welcome sweet with tea, and some snacks in our room. We were able to reserve a bath time in the ryokan. It was a little unclear at booking that the more historic baths and also dinner was at a larger ryokan up the road just a bit. We didn't mind, especially if it keeps a smaller more personal ryokan in business. We only were here one night so we could visit...

"Great facility, and excellent food. I went in winter when the outdoor bath could not compete with the weather, so the indoor bath was hotter. The nearby restaurant, Rokkatei was excellent if you arrive before lunch or dinner at Kamesei "

"The staff is welcoming and kind, this is a family run business for 6 generations! The half board breakfast and dinner are exceptional, kaiseki style and every dish is presented beautifully. The location is right on the ometesando, lots of foot traffic but quiet. Futons are comfortable. We loved our stay and want to go back!"

"Impeccably clean, nice hot onsen, super helpful front desk. Cozy comfy beds. We don’t try the food but we will next time because it smelled delicious. *expedia site is WRONG - it’s not a 3 minute walk to ski resort - It’s a 30 min drive."
