"The room was tiny, but that's to be expected at an APA hotel. The bathroom felt a bit dated, but everything worked fine. There wasn't much of a view, but I mostly kept the curtains pulled anyway. I was able to plug my Switch into the TV, so that's nice. Plenty of places to eat nearby. There were two elevators, and I almost never even had to share one. "Loved our time here. After a night in busy Tokyo, felt rejuvenated by the hot bath, friendly staff, and relaxing atmosphere. First time to Japan for my wife and 3 young kids, the Hakone area and Ryoken plus Onsen experience was a great adventure."

"An absolutely beautiful hotel, the staff were very welcoming and polite. Their service was exceptional. The luxurious room with private onsen was a wonderful unique experience. The room, furniture and bathroom were in great condition. We would definitely come back! "

"This hotel is although old but it is very nice. The surrounding is serene & beautiful. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The only slight oversight was when the housekeeper missed out on a few minor details such as not taking away dirty cups & used glasses, not replacing the same number of towels. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay."

"A true traditional ryokan experience. The feel and service of all the amentities was superb. We were worried about the food as it was very unique. However all of it exceeded expectations. All the food was worth trying and had such an earthy feel to it. The service of the staff members were impeccable. Very kind and helpful. The place is little far to get to. So recommend calling ahead for shuttle service from the ryokan. Highly recommended."
