"No Bridge, No Problem" is the motto of this little island. You'll take a ferry to get to Daufuskie Island which takes a little planning, but it means this island has remained secluded and beautiful. No crowds, no shopping centers, and very few paved roads -- a golf cart is all you need -- and we include a 4 person cart with your rental price (saving you $60+ per night and the hassle of booking one yourself). Enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets, miles of uncrowded beaches for walking, gentle waves for playing in the ocean, and a large pool just steps from this Sandy Lane villa with a short boardwalk to the beach. This is our happy place, and we hope it will be yours! From the moment you step inside the door, you will feel peaceful and pampered; there is a master bedroom with ocean views, a huge balcony along two sides of the unit with panoramic views and total privacy, and brand-new interior paint, floors, and decor. We are new owners who have renovated and updated every single room in the last year. With three bedrooms and three full baths, it's the perfect place to share with friends and family. There are two full master suites with king beds and soaking tubs, and the third bedroom has an attached bath and a king bed. We chose our unit for the privacy and quiet, since it doesn't overlook the pool -- you'll see the ocean on the front and trees on the side! And it's an end unit with no shared walls with another unit.
Since our family vacations here too, we tried to think of everything you will need for your stay: all bed linens and bath towels plus 6 plush beach towels, 6 beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, smart tvs/cable, books, games, highchair, booster chair, pack & play, linens, fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of basic supplies to get you through the week (paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, spices, olive oil, etc.). You'll need to bring food to supplement the little restaurants on the island -- we have lots of tips about what to bring and how to pack. Once you book, we will send you a document with everything you need to plan your trip and answer any questions along the way. A local company, Daufuskie Transit, offers land transportation for you and your luggage from the ferry landing to the villa. Your golf cart will be waiting there for you! There are also companies on the island that offer bike rentals, water sports, fishing excursions, day trips to Savannah and Hilton Head, history tours, and more.
For history lovers, you might enjoy reading Pat Conroy's novel, The Water is Wide (or watching the movie), since the story is about his time teaching the Gulla children on the island in a two-room schoolhouse. The island is rich in history and there's plenty to explore with a small museum and a self-guided tour of historic sites around the island.
**Also, please note this unit is on the 3rd floor of a 4-story building. There is an elevator, but only one. It has occasionally gone out for a brief time, so it's important that everyone in your party could manage the stairs in case of emergency.**
