The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is known for its eclectic range of paintings from Europe and the U.S. The museum is home to a vast collection of Messein porcelain, an antique form of china that dates back to the early 18th century. The museum was established in 1961 on the former home of residents Arthur and Ninah Cummer. It is open daily year-round except Mondays and certain national holidays. Opening times vary, so check the official museum website for details. There is an admission fee, except on Tuesday evenings and on the first Saturday of every month, when admission is free and tours are offered. Seniors, students and children have discounted entry.
The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is located just south of the center of Jacksonville. It is on the northwest bank of the St. Johns River. Catch the Skyway monorail to Central Station. If you come by car, use the free parking near the museum entrance.
