A sandy beach, waterfront promenade, recreational activities for children and free summer concerts make this one of Kelowna’s favorite public parks.

City Park is a green lung of Kelowna nestled between the eastern shores of Okanagan Lake and Downtown Kelowna. Visit City Park to enjoy its beach, swim in the calm lake water and participate in watersports. Allow children to get active at a well-equipped playground and have fun playing in water features. Attend free cultural activities and live music events during the summer.

Skirting the lakeshore is Hot Sands Beach. Relax on the soft golden sand, take a dip in the cool water and admire uninterrupted views of the verdant hills of the Okanagan Valley. In the summer months have riotous fun on the floating adventure park with inflatable slides and trampolines.

Stroll on the park’s boardwalk, which is popular for dog-walking, running and skating. Look for the sculpture of Ogopogo, a mythical sea serpent said to inhabit the lake. The esplanade continues north to Downtown Marina Kelowna, where you can rent boats, kayaks, Jet Skis, stand-up paddleboards and wakeboards. Continue strolling along the coastline to Waterfront Park and walk back through Downtown Kelowna for a meal or a drink.

Find more children’s entertainment in the center of the park. Enjoy playing fields and a playground with slides and swings. Dodge the water that shoots from the fountains and sprinklers of the splash park. Watch as skaters perform tricks at the skateboard park.

Time your visit to coincide with the Parks Alive! series of concerts held in July and August. Listen to performances of a range of music genres by local musicians. Purchase snacks from food trucks or bring your own lunch and have a picnic on the grassy lawn.

Kelowna’s City Park is a short walk from Downtown Kelowna and the Kelowna Cultural District. Park free inside the park for a few hours. Alternatively, take a public bus to the park, which is open every day. Dogs are welcome, although they must be on a leash at all times and they are not allowed onto the beach area.
