We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom - in room number 5. Would recommend people to not request room 5 as I can imagine other rooms would have been more comfortable. Room 5 is kind of isolated, right next to the reception room and quite far from the toilets/showers in that you have to go downstairs then up different stairs. Room lighting was also quite dark. There are signs to keep quiet after 10.30pm but it was the manager and his friends who were the noisiest after that time which was ironic. Generally though it was a comfortable stay and felt clean.

Great accommodation- clean, comfortable, relatively easy to find, and access via bus routes (including one stop only a brief walk away). Very nice people- both staff and fellow visitors. Would definitely stay again.

Very nice!!
I stayed only one night and I enjoyed at this hostel!! I could use single bed so it was really comfortable to sleep:) I also used hair dryer!! Staff were kind and friendly so l’d like to stay again :)

Great Little Hostel
I booked two separate one night stays and they kept me in the same room without a request. The staff is friendly, the Lodge clean. My room was very comfortable, with a double bed, TV and wireless. The only little problem was due to my not really reading the fine print. I did not realize it did not have an en suite toilet, which my 60-year-old prostrate would have preferred. Since it is a small hostel with only five rooms and one dorm, it was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing.

Inexpensive, handy, good vibes
I needed a quick overnight bed in the Woolston area. Haka Lodge did that, at a really attractive price. Friendly staff, the dorm more comfortable and pleasant than I was expecting. Handy to get to (direct bus to the airport is on Ferry Rd just a block away).

Great friendly staff, room comfortable.
We enjoyed so very much our first night in Christchurch staying in Haka Lodge. The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. The lodge is close to facilities such as shops etc, and is quite lovely inside. We found it very warm and inviting. There were many brochures to enable travellers to find local points of interest, together with further suggestions for more distant areas in New Zealand. Very highly recommend this lovely spot ... would stay there again anytime!

Good value for the price.
It was just a room. No ensuite. Shared bathrooms of which one was not working. Guess it's good value for the price tag. The shared kitchen, living room etc was good and chilled out. You'll love the place provided you are in the <30 age bracket! I would definitely recommend it to my younger friends.

Hotel meets Hostel
An amazing place to stay if you have a car and want to be close to the city without having to be IN the city. The property is quaint and feels private. Directions to the lodge could be better with clearly marked signage. This lodge is an amazing merge between fancy house/comfortable inn/Hostel so it's perfect for my kind of stay :). Mahalo!

Television and heater not working. Room was not clean. Bathroom outside of room was often full. In other words, ratio of bathroom to guests was not considered. Kitchen area was dirty. The sign was not well lit and finding it in the dark and heavy rain downpour was not easy. I will not recommend this to any of my friends!

Kein Strom in den Badezimmern im Obergeschoss. Das wurde durch eine batteriebetriebene Lampe gelöst, die die ganze Nacht an war - bei offenem Badezimmerfenster. Am nächsten Morgen befanden sich mehrere hundert Falter und Mücken im Badezimmer, die auch bis zum Mittag nicht entfernt worden waren. Küchengeräte und Geschirr nicht sauber. Selbst die Schrankgriffe waren so klebrig und dreckig, dass wir alles, was wir benutzen wollten, erst noch einmal selbst abgewaschen haben. Es war nicht zu erkennen, wer denn nun eigentlich dort arbeitete und wer Gast war.
