This gem of a coastal strip in the Batemans Bay area of Australia’s southeastern coast is known for its calm waters and excellent swimming, fishing and surfing.

With golden sands, some great fishing spots, nearly year-round swimming and good surf breaks, Caseys Beach is everything you’ve come to expect from Australia’s sun-kissed beaches. Dive in for a swim or go surfing to cool off in summer or stroll along the beach during the colder months.

Caseys Beach is a 2,626-feet (800-meter) long stretch of sand. The curving beach extends south from Observation Point to the next rocky headland. The east-facing beach is a perfect spot for an invigorating morning walk. Come here at dawn to see the sun rise across the bay.

With surf life savers present during the busier weekends and holidays, Caseys Beach is great for those traveling with children. After splashing around in the water and building sand castles together, take them to the small playground that overlooks the beach or bring a picnic basket and relax in the two covered picnic areas on each end of the beach.

Surfers can expect to find a low shore break most of the year. Just be aware of the rocks and reefs around the headlands and stronger currents off the beach. If you love fishing, head to the entrance wall into the Clyde River or the rocky platforms surrounding the headlands.

End your day with a meal in a foreshore restaurants to soak up the views. A range of shops and fast food outlets are just a stroll away, in the town of Batehaven.

Caseys Beach in Batemans Bay is located in the southeast of New South Wales, just a short drive from Lilli Pilli, where the Batemans Bay Surf Life Saving Club operates from. Batemans Bay is the closest seaside town to Canberra, a 2-hour journey on a quiet day.

The town’s main Beach Road runs alongside the beach and is protected by a seawall. You can find parking spaces and toilet blocks at either end of the beach, including one on Observation Point. Parking along Beach Road itself is not permitted. Batehaven’s hotels, holiday houses and resorts are just a short walking or driving distance away from the beach.
