Welcome! We are delighted that you found your way to our Bonny Cottage. This endearing house is poised high in an area affectionately referred to as Happy Hill, less than a mile to the villages and Moonstone Beach (and a delightful walk if you don’t mind the hill). As one of the original early Cambria cabins, it was built in 1923. Because of the age of the house it is not suitable for children under the age of eight. If you look you will find a sweet antique photograph of the original cabin and the owners on the wall just next to the front door. People speak of Cambria itself as a beloved, almost mythical place, a real-life Brigadoon. And there are as many ways to love Cambria as there are people who love it. There is the ocean, of course, and the picturesque east and west villages with their shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants less. Hearst Castle is ten minutes up the road at the foot of Big Sur and the elephant seals (and occasionally the Hearst Ranch zebras) are along the way. There is always wine tasting, sunset-watching, stargazing… and sometimes just sitting by the fire listening to the waves. This notebook offers some information and a few suggestions, but is in no way complete. Long weekend getaway
This is a sweet, romantic step back in time. So many cozy and thoughtful touches throughout. Especially loved the candles on timers and the multiple spots to sit and enjoy the views. We will definitely be back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the cottage—it exceeded all my expectations. The charming ambiance, coupled with the candles illuminating at 8 PM, made me feel right at home. It truly was a magical experience, incredibly cozy, and impressively well-stocked. The massive tree in the backyard, adorned with moss, added to the enchanting atmosphere.

Perfect Getaway
We enjoyed the quietness of the neighborhood, the proximity to town and Moonstone beach, and the amenities at the cottage. The cottage is small, but had everything we needed for a relaxing few days. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck and enjoying our coffee in the morning, and watching the sunset in the evening. We would definitely stay here again.

Charming Historical Cottage
This historical cottage is bright and comfortable. The antiques and old photos of people having fun add to the charm of the place. There are two decks to enjoy with a distant view of the ocean and a front yard that was frequented by groups of quail. You are walking distance to town and the beach but you do need to walk up a steep hill going back. The cottage is well stocked and has everything you may need. This is a real gem!

The neighborhood was quiet, lots of friendly people walking friendly dogs. The front deck with the furniture was fun, we actually got to sit in the sun a few days. The kitchen was very well stocked and we found everything that we needed. Loved all the candles that are in the living room. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was decorated with vintage furniture, photos, and decorations which were very charming. I would certainly stay here again!

Cozy, peaceful cottage
My husband and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of this place. The bed in the master was very comfortable. Lots of windows throughout the house to let in the ocean breezes. We especially liked sitting at the cozy kitchen table for our morning coffee and breakfast while looking out at the trees and flowers. The kitchen was well stocked with most anything you need to prepare meals by simply adding your ingredients of choice. There was not a dishwasher but we don’t mind washing dishes. We felt like we stepped back in time enjoying the antiques and old photos on the walls of couples and friends enjoying themselves. There were lots of books and movies to watch if you desired to do so. We weren’t far from shopping and places to eat and only about 15 minutes from Hearst Castle. We would love to stay here again!

The cabin is charming, homey, and one of the original Cambria cottages. As well, it has always been a good experience dealing with Scenic Coast.Clearly the family who owns this property has a long standing relationship and it shows. This time was special. I had to cut my visit short and leave early due to Hurricane Hilary. I needed to get south before the storm hit. Accidentally left my earrings behind and worried quite a bit that the finder would keep them. But these are honest people. Valerie received the earrings from her cleaner...thanks to an truthful person. I received a complete refund for the night I lost, and my earrings are being mailed to me. What great folks! I cannot recommend this property management company enough.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The lovely home is charming if you enjoy the vintage feel. We enjoyed the deck area in the afternoon which offered a peak of the ocean. This was my second visit to the home in the past 2 years. I was happy to see a few upgrades such as new carpet, new microwave and a few other items. I would suggest that the owner consider providing a Keurig coffee pot. We scrubbed one of the copper bottom pans. There are several others that need the same treatment. Lots of deck area and a BBQ is available. The two loveseats in the living room may need the cushions redone. There didn't seem to be much padding in the seat area. Also the TV is a bit challenging. The instructions are not quite correct. However, we did figure it out after a bit of trial and error. I would definitely recommend the home if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable single story home located close to everything.

Although the cottage was very clean. It definitely needed some maintenance done. There was no propane in the BBQ tank. The oven was in very poor working order making it hard to put a meal together. The whole was just a bit tired.

The cabin was the perfect size for two people and dog and the back patio was a great place for the dog to explore. I personally loved the front deck myself to sit out and listen to the ocean and get a little sun. Despite being an older cabin the kitchen and bathrooms in good shape And the kitchen is perfectly stocked with tools and pots and pans and dishes! Situated on happy Hill, it is about half a mile into town either a nice walk or a quick drive.

Wonderful getaway in historic cabin!
We loved staying at the cabin on Happy Hill. It was so fun to see all the pictures around the cabin. We especially loved seeing the photo of the original owners. We loved that it was a cabin built back in the 1920's and wondered if it had been one of the Hearst hunting cabins. We loved our ocean view deck and the short walk to Moonstone beach.
