There are two full bathrooms. One with a shower and another with a tub. There is a great room with a huge sectional couch, tv, full kitchen and table. There is a wood burning fireplace in the other living room. The cabin also has a heater in the main section that keeps you very comfortable. We also have air conditioning in the two main living areas along with ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The mountain's are calling, we look forward to having you!

Lovely mountain getaway
Perfect summer escape from the heat in a lovely cabin by the creek! We love the cattail creek community for its remoteness, perfect mountain vacation environment, closeness to Burnsville, difficult hikes, and coolness in the shade of Mt Mitchell. This cabin had easy access to Cattail Creek, thoughtful appointments, comfortable beds, a secluded yard - was perfect, and we will definitely be back. It was also a great spot for a well behaved dog who doesn’t need a fenced in yard. Some notes for future guests - the neighborhood is on mountain roads…some of the rentals we have had here recommend 4 wheel drive, but this cabin was easy to access in the mini van. They do not recommend drinking the water in this rental, so make sure and bring jugs of water for your use. Thanks for sharing such a special place. Looking forward to returning!

Needed retreat
This stay was wonderful. It was the perfect place for me and my senior, best friend, dog. We have a wonderful, restful, quiet, peaceful time. Listening and watching to the creek ramble over the rocks below, while having coffee and reading on the deck was fabulous! We hope to come back again soon.

Beautiful as always
This is my sixth time staying at Rock Ridge. It remains one of my favorite places on earth. The hiking around the cabin can't be beat (check out the 9-mile out-and-back hike up to Deep Gap, as well as the short hike over to Twin Falls, all right off Deep Gap Road), and the cabin itself makes for a lovely, restful retreat once you're done hiking/exploring for the day. The water isn't safe for drinking, but safe for bathing/teeth brushing for those with normal immune systems. I am immunocompromised and brush with bottled water and have not had any issues. The view from the back porch is one of the best in the community. Pierre is a lovely host and is always available through the app for any questions or concerns. They've made some recent improvements to the cabin as well, making it an even better place to stay! You'll love your time here!

Weekend Getaway
Two years ago we first visited and the updates add to the charm of the cabin. It has everything we need for our diverse group of 4 adults, 3 young kids, and 2 dogs. The location is breathtaking and provides multiple adventures in the creek along the waterfall or walking on the local roads. The location has a few quirks that come with age and the reality of cleaning a cabin in the woods. We loved the place because it provides so many different kinds of entertainment for our family.

Great cabin in the mountains with a small waterfall right below the covered deck. Large living room and kitchen (which had just been remodeled). This was our 2nd time here and we probably come back next year.

Splendid stay in Cattail Creek
We had a great stay at the cabin in Cattail Creek. It was well stocked with kitchenware, linens, board games, outdoor chairs for the firepit and some wood. There’s plenty of room to gather together or find a spot to be alone. Great back porch with view of the creek. Although a few days were cooler than usual, we were warm and cozy. The kids loved being so close to the creek for rock- hopping. I’d recommend tying a balloon at the top of the driveway since other family or friends could miss it. Overall, many good memories were made.

Beautiful views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at cattail creek. The view from the back porch was awe inspiring. The neighbors were friendly. We walked the road and some trails up near the cabin. Most of our stay we just spent up on the mountain because there was no reason to leave. The road was a bit stressful for me because I'm not used to narrow mountain roads BUT I made it up and down and would go again. Pierre was easy to contact and answered our questions quickly. Definitely an amazing place to stay and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the mountains.

Everything was as described. Very clean and host was super helpful. Our kids and grandkids spent one night and hungout the next day. Plenty of room and they had a blast in the creek. We would highly recommend this property.

Very relaxing
Enjoyed the water noise and the close proximity . Kitchen needs more light. Only had 2 washcloths, for our stay we could have used 2 per day. There is a hole in the back of the house that needs to be looked at, possible critters. But overall, it was a great place to unwind, really liked the area.

Cozy cabin
This was our second time staying at this cabin. It has a large, comfortable great room that can easily accommodate our family of six. The heaters worked great and we all had very comfortable beds. The stream is directly behind the cabin and provided many hours of safe entertainment for the kids (ages 5-11). We did take one star off due to the dishwasher not being completely installed. It would tilt/fall forward out of the cabinet every time we tried to load or unload dishes which was very irritating. Also, the cabin did not seem very clean. There was a lot of dirt and dust bunnies under and behind most pieces of furniture. Overall, we had a great stay with just a couple of minor issues. Thank you for the relaxing vacation!

Amazing as always
This was my fifth time staying at Rock Ridge. As always, we had the best time. We found some trails we hadn’t seen before, one going to a waterfall and another going all the way up to Deep Gap, almost 6000 feet up. Had a blast hiking and enjoying the breathtaking fall scenery. Will definitely be back! Just an FYI, the water is not treated and not safe for drinking. I am immunocompromised and used bottled water to brush my teeth and had no issues.

The Perfect Solitary Getaway!
This was the perfect little getaway and my first-ever VRBO rental! The cabin is clean, spacious, and remote. There are other cabins relatively nearby, but you cannot see them from the cabin. The stream and waterfall were amazing to hear and see from the porch rocking chairs. The host was incredibly responsive and a pleasure to work with. Definitely print directions before you head out. While I had good GPS service almost all the way, it did cut out on me as I hit about a mile from the cabin. Wifi at the cabin is fantastic and the Smart TVs are a great addition. The cabin is better than the pictures show (the pictures are older, I think). The main heater does heat the entire house nicely. I did some hiking in Pisgah National Forest and that's about 1.5 hr drive. Expect to drive an hour or more to get to the good hiking trails. The little town is quaint and has everything you will need. I really enjoyed my stay there and am thankful it was pet friendly as my dog was able to join me. Would highly recommend it if you are looking for a remote getaway in the NC mountains!

Anniversary celebration
A few hiccups. Owner immediatly answered questions and needs when rose, local handyman took care of most issues. However, well furnished kitchen, nice washer/dryer, great water pressure for the shower and plenty of hot water. No cell service but not expected in the mountains. Wifi worked great throughout house. The view from the back deck was priceless.

Very remote
If you want to get away to a quiet place I recommend this on. It's about 15 to 20 minutes to Burnsville for groceries and things. An hour to Asheville. Sitting on the back porch listening to the nearby creek with waterfall is very calming. I just wanted something different and relaxing as opposed to the beach and this did it. Lots of nature trails and things nearby.

Pretty location
This was a beautiful location that was out of the way, no phone service without wifi but the wifi was great. Could be cleaner, the house keeping needs to make sure they knock down cobwebs and dust so it looks better but overall it was clean. Having to buy a roku for TV after the price was a hassle ave with costs I feel the rental should have a smart TV for night time TV after a day out in the mountains. Overall not bad place but was too expensive to me for the experience.

Wonderful cabin and location
My family had a truly enjoyable week at Cattail Creek. The cabin had everything we needed as a family of six including plenty of towels, blankets, and a fully stocked kitchen. There were games, puzzles, and toys to keep the kids occupied during a couple rainy mornings. The stream was a short walk away and was big enough to keep all the kids interested for hours, yet shallow enough to minimize safety concerns. We we're able to bring our dog and the cabin is very pet friendly. There are very steep areas as well as a cliff down to the river in the backyard/side of the property so just be aware if you have toddlers or younger kids that you will have to watch them very carefully. This cabin was my family's favorite and we hope to visit again sometime soon.

Does it get any better than a week with family, in a cabin outside of town, with no cell service? Plenty of room, great view, constant sound of rushing water and an amazing view of the creek.
