Aspire Park is one of Doha’s largest green spaces, a vast park where locals and visitors can enjoy spending time in the fresh air and sunshine. With the only lake in Qatar, the park is a great expanse of greenery, in stark contrast to the desert surroundings. Visit Aspire Park to enjoy the leisure facilities, playground areas and running tracks.
Spend a relaxing few hours using the facilities in Aspire Park. Choose to go for a gentle run on the 3-mile-long (5-kilometer) track that rings the outside of the park or take the children to burn off energy on the range of playgrounds.
The park is the perfect spot for a picnic on the grass, finding shade from the midday sun under the large trees and watching the children play. Alternatively, bring a good book and just relax on a bench.
The big lake forms the heart of the park. Delight in the aquatic animals that live here. Take a seat in the nearby café, which offers the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy views of the fountains, lake and many exotic trees in the park. In fact, the baobab trees you see here were shipped fully grown from Argentina.
Aspire Park is part of the Aspire Zone, a purpose-built area that hosted the 2006 Asian Games. The state-of-the-art sporting facilities are still used for training camps and sporting events. Aspire Tower, also called Torch Tower, looms 1,000 feet (300 meters) high over the park and held the torch for the 2006 Asian Games. The Aspire Zone is located behind the Hyatt Plaza Mall and the grand Villaggio Mall. Enjoy some shopping in the opulent Venice-themed mall, which even has a canal running through it.
Find Aspire Park in the Baaya Municipality 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Doha’s city center. Ride one of the buses departing Al Ghanim Bus Station, which takes about 40 minutes, or travel here by taxi in 30 minutes.
The park is open year round. Note that visitors must dress modestly ensure shoulders, knees and midriffs are covered.
