We have stayed in VRBO houses and condos in about 11 locations over 7 years. They have generally been terrific. Most have gotten 5 stars from me, until this trip. We stayed 4 days in a larger unit in this building on the same floor 2 years ago and thought it was well appointed, well provisioned, and delightful.
This unit did not make the grade…for example: Cheap furniture, akin to a low-end motel.
Provided were: 6 dinner plates…ok, but anyone under 5’6” would need a step stool to reach them;
4 coffee cups…ok (although a somewhat dirty coffee maker, I cleaned it up); 1 8-ounce juice glass…not ok (actually there were 3, but we used 2 in the bathroom since nothing was provided there);
1 salad plate…not ok; 4 12-ounce water glasses…
Of the 2 tv remotes…1 had totally dead batteries, 1 had very weak batteries. After our 3rd of 4 days we were able to get the bldg concierge to replace the batteries.
Finally, the overall neighborhood has gotten run down. Lots of homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk near the building entrance and in the driveway to the garage. We realize homelessness is a issue in Asheville, but this area has run down more than others.
