Located on Lake Champlain, this cottage has spectacular lake and sunset views. Perfect for relaxing, fishing, water sports, golfing, and also to use as a home base for fun day trips. Enjoy the sunroom which overlooks the beautiful lake, the nearby Alburgh Sand Dunes State Park and Alburgh Golf Links, and St. Anne's Shrine and the ancient coral reefs on Isle LaMotte.
Dogs are welcome, but require Owner approval and payment of a Pet Fee per dog per trip, maximum of 2 dogs.
You will have complete use of the entire cottage. It is a stand-alone residence and will be yours for your entire stay. This cottage includes a sunny living room with six large windows which allow a beautiful view of Lake Champlain. There is a tile shower that is very spacious, kitchen appliances, including a dishwasher, cabinets and countertops. The kitchen has basic necessities and includes some spices and other items needed for cooking a delicious meal. There is a washer and dryer in your cottage.
There are Adirondack-style chairs on the deck outside for sitting and enjoying the sun, breeze and view. The deck is a great place to enjoy a drink and food while taking in the beautiful western lake view, sunsets and birds. We have seen bald eagles, osprey, hummingbirds, red tail hawks, and numerous other birds. On a clear night, star gazing is amazing. There are shared BBQ Grill stations on the site; each has a gas grill and picnic table for grilling and eating. We also have a fire pit on the beach and kayaks for guests to use.
You will have access to the shared waterfront that is a short walk (about 300 feet) down the road to the path or stairs that lead down to the water. There you will find a shale waterfront with a dock that you can use for swimming, sunning (we have a couple of lounge chairs down there) or fishing (some nice fish have been caught from our dock). There is a boat mooring ball available upon request (no tying up boats to dock). Some of our guests have hunted for fossils in the rocks on the beach and had great luck.
You also can explore the 35 acres of meadows that are part of the property. We have walking trails cut in the grass when it gets too tall, before it is mowed for hay in July or August, so you can take a nice walk in this meadow and enjoy the wildlife and field views.
You will have access to a shared gas grill and picnic table near your cottage and a common lawn area with usually 4 Adirondack chairs and a hammock. It is a beautiful place to sit in the summer under a shade tree and enjoy the scenery.
Both Lucy and I enjoy meeting our guests and sharing any information that we can about the area and the property. You might see us down at the waterfront starting a fire on the beach for all to enjoy, or you might see us in the gardens weeding or planting. We own several cottages on this property that are in various stages of renovation, so you may see us working on various projects.
Many of our guests comment on how much they enjoy the peace and quiet they find here. We agree, and that's why we choose to live on the site during the rental season! In any case, Dave is always available by cell phone for any questions you might have.
Our cottages are part of a 45 acre parcel that once was a working farm that rented cottages in the summer for additional income. The cottages have been rebuilt and the vast meadows are now used for growing hay. So there are many forms of wildlife around. We have seen deer, fox, bald eagles, red tail hawks, osprey, any many other field birds. It is fun to sit and watch the meadows and lake. A relaxed place with friendly home-owners who enjoy meeting new people.
The cottage is one mile from the Alburgh Sand Dunes State Park, which has a beautiful kid-friendly sandy beach. Recently upgraded, the State Park now has a playground for children, many picnic tables, changing rooms, and lots of parking. Its long beach is also a wonderful place for a walk. The Alburgh Golf Links, which includes the Kraemer & Kin Taproom, is a great place for lunch or dinner on the large deck that looks south over the first fairway and Lake Champlain, or in the spacious tap room. This is a favorite place for lunch.
Your cottage makes a great home base for fun day trips to Montreal (60-70 min; bring your passport) and Burlington (55 min.)!
We provide a list of places to go and things to do with your reservation, including our favorite restaurants.
Having a car is the best way to get around in this area. There are driveways at each cottage for you to park in. Please drive and park on the gravel driveway and stay off the grass areas. There are shallow underground utilities in this area and driving over them could cause damage. If you need additional parking please let me know and I’ll show you where it is safe to park. There is also great biking in the Islands, so bring your bikes!
We have great sunsets, sunrises, moonrises, and night skies!
