"It’s worth noting that this is not a normal hotel but a traditional pilgrim’s lodging, so it is expected that you sleep on a mat on the floor and the facilities are relatively basic. You are staying here for the experience. The property was clean with onsen (hot bath) provided and our room had its own toilet/sink. Our only complaint is that they no longer serve food and we were not notified of this despite this being part of our booking, however we found a restaurant for dinner walking distance...

"Excellent Ryokan that has been well maintained and cared for given its long history. The old facility is evident and yet despite that, provided a cosy stay. The host was extremely warm and welcoming and showed the hospitality as one would expect from a traditional Ryokan passed down from decades old. "Only two stations (15 minutes by train) from Kansai airport, so including the walk to the station you can be there in less than 30 minutes - that's the main attraction of the place - but the area itself is quite dead, aside from the cute covered shopping area between the guesthouse and the station. "I would not recommend this place, since there is no personnel at the hotel to manage the guests. We were there for one night and we got woke up a few times buy people yelling in the accomodation We were in room 101 which is next to the living room/kitchen and the entry, probably the worst room. I had to get up and tell some guest to stop yelling at each other. We were woken up by people at midnight, 2am , 4 am and 7am. People were rude and were not respecting any rules from the managers.... "
