Locating the best B & B fit requires that travelers fully understand what is important to them at different points along their journey. We chose to stay at La Casa del Giardiniere because of where we were at that point in time during this second visit to Italy: Not where we were geographically, but where we knew we would be physically and mentally. We had been in the hustle and bustle of Rome for four days and met our son in Venice to continue on to Northern Italy. He was tired from a temporary assignment in Conegliano and we were a bit weary from the pace of Rome. So we elected to find a three-day central location that would permit us to make some planned day trips (Treviso, Trieste, Conegliano, Vicenze) and also allow us to return each evening to a quiet, relaxed oasis for recovery. La Casa del Giardiniere was perfect. We had just finished a 10-month complete renovation of an older home a few weeks prior to our trip, but the careful and detailed finishes to this home made us want to start all over again. The home and gorgeous gardens are lovely and guests have a separate and very private wing, with its own entrance, to wind down from the day. The beds are wonderful, the house is spotless and everything has been thought of, including music and reading material. The kitchen is well-stocked, grocery stores are nearby and so are excellent restaurants. Mr. Favaro is a gentle, helpful and gracious host and we looked forward each morning to the thoughtful gifts he left at our door. His advice for side visits was spot-on. If you want to experience what life in a more rural Italian environment is like along with the feeling of a peaceful retreat, this is a perfect place for you.
