This cabin was very nice. Nicely decorated, clean; the perfect size for my family. The property was very nice and we took advantage of the outdoor patio and fire pit. My husband enjoyed napping on the porch swing! We also enjoyed the Barkers Creek Bridge which was accessible from the side of the property. There is road noise but we are from the city so it was something we could easily tune out. There is a train track just behind the house but we only saw one train (engine only), the entire trip.
Our only complaint was the lack of access to the river. We rented this property because we had intentions to go fishing. My husband and children were all disappointed in this. When you see the pictures provided they are very misleading. The picture is taken from two properties down. Both properties next to this one have water access. So if you are looking to fish from the property, this will not be the place for you. This is the reason we didn't give the property 5 stars. If the water/fishing weren't a focal point for our trip then this would be a moot point.
I tried to find a means to contact property management to see if there was an alternative access point but could not find any means to do so.
Overall we still had a great trip. We took advantage of the numerous hiking trails and access points to the waterfalls in the area. And even saw a bear during one of our hikes! Make sure you grab trail maps before you head out.
We did a jump over to Hendersonville, which has great shops and one of my favorite wineries. If you love wine, visit Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards. You can make a day of it and also visit Burnshirt Vineyards which is only a few miles from Saint Paul, but I prefer Saint Paul!
We love this part of North Carolina! Every time we visit it just confirms this is going to be our future home.
