Buena Vista means “good view” – a major understatement in the case of this lovely log home. Step out onto either of the home's two huge decks and the view will take your breath away. This is the perfect place to spend your High Country vacation, in the heart of Ashe County. At the end of the road, with no other homes above you, you'll feel like you're on top of the world! The setting provides a wonderful sense of peace and privacy, yet, when you're ready to venture out for shopping, dining or entertainment, you're just 5 minutes from historic downtown West Jefferson.
When you see the decks at Buena Vista, you'll want to live outside. Both large decks are designed for entertainment and family fun, with stunning views of Bluff and Three Top Mountains. The upper deck, accessible from the home's main level, includes a large stone fireplace, for the ultimate in ambiance. There's a huge covered area for dining alfresco, as well as several private nooks where you can immerse yourself in birdsong, relaxation, and perhaps a good book.
The outdoor spaces are exceptional, but let's not ignore the home's interior, with its towering windows, rock fireplace, open floor plan and main-floor master bedroom. The great room encompasses the seating, dining and kitchen areas, so everyone can enjoy the view throughout the day – or take a few steps and be outside again. The seating area is situated around the floor-to-ceiling gas fireplace, which enhances the mountain cabin atmosphere. The adjoining dining area has seating for 4. The kitchen features granite countertops, a farmhouse sink, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and wide peninsula island with additional seating. When you're spending the evening in, you'll find the kitchen well-stocked with everything you'll need to prepare convenient meals at home.
The primarty bedroom, located just off the great room, provides the comfort you need on vacation, with a king-size bed and adjoining full bath (the only bathroom on this level). Upstairs you'll find another full bathroom and a bedroom with a queen bed, as well as a quaint reading loft with another great view. On the lower level, which has its own deck, there's yet another queen-size bedroom as well as a family room, laundry and full bathroom. The family room is a great place for watching TV, but from here you can also step out onto the deck and hit the hot tub.

Location, Location, Location!
Buena Vista is a perfect base from which to explore the High Country. The heart of West Jefferson is just 5 minutes away, where you'll experience shops, restaurants, breweries, galleries, movie theaters and festivals. Stroll the quaint streets and watch cheese being made at the famous Ashe County Cheese Factory. Don't miss amazing antiques shopping at Antiques on Main. This is small town America at its finest.
When you're ready for restaurant dining, you'll find several options in West Jefferson. If you like craft beer, check out Boondocks and New River Brewing. Fine dining is available at Craft Bistro, and Slice is the place for pizza. The Tavern has a wide assortment of menu choices for dinner, lunch and Sunday brunch.
As you venture out to explore, visit Boone and Blowing Rock, for an even wider assortment of dining, entertainment and shopping options. Tour the campus of Appalachian State University, find live music and free concerts, or bring home a treasure from an arts and crafts fair.
From Buena Vista you're also no more than 20 minutes from the New River – a gentle, slow-moving river, safe and enjoyable for all ages. Take a swim, or try fishing, canoeing, tubing or kayaking. Local outfitters will set you up with everything you need. Other outdoor adventures include ziplining, rock climbing and mining for gems.
Here in Blue Ridge Country, the journey is as satisfying as the destination, with gorgeous scenery at every turn. Our numerous hiking, biking and horseback riding trails provide some healthy endorphins and unlimited, amazing photo opps. Fall foliage here is indescribably beautiful.
