The home is well appointed on the Rappahannock River, with beautiful views. There were extra blankets and towels, which was very helpful. There were two washer and dryer in the home, one in the mud-room and the other in the master bath which was very useful. The spin cycle for the washer in the mud-room did not working properly but the dryer worked really well. There were two dishwashers in the kitchen, and one of them did not work. When we arrived, it was difficult to wheel our luggage into the house due to the excessive leaves which filled the driveway, walk-way and front steps. The patio / deck area were covered in leaves, old beer cans were found on patio. My husband picked up over three 55-gallon trash-bags of leave from the deck and the yard. He had to be very careful while picking up the leaves in the front yard, as to avoid disturbing the protruding wires from the ground.
We could not use either side of the garage, due to the excessive boating equipment, boxes, wiring racks, trash, spider webs, and dirt thrown throughout both sides of the garage.
There were also spider webs in the foyer, washroom, outside lighting fixtures, and on the front door. The walls, which were not wall papered, really need to be painted and the carpet in the master bedroom needed to be cleaned. Although the beds were not made upon arrival, we did not mind. The house is very spacious and the kids loved the game-room. There was only 1 television in the entire house. The gourmet kitchen was well-stocked with upgraded appliances. There was a Broken swivel stool off the kitchen. The flooring in the kitchen and family rooms are very nice and I absolutely loved the fire-place. A few of the screen doors to the patio were not attached. Most of the window treatments are very nice but the vertical silhouettes in the master bedroom appeared to be damaged. Upon arrival, there were many flies in the home and ants in the kitchen. We purchased bug spray and cleaned the kitchen before unpacking. The ant infestation appeared to be coming from the sink. There was an extra full-size refrigerator in the mud-room, although it was dirty, it was very useful. We simply wiped away what appeared to be mud and dirt from fish caught in the Rappahannock River, perhaps from the previous renters. We called the owner for help on how to lock the screen doors and she responded promptly. Overall, the home is beautiful but neglected and in need of TLC.
