The house was very pretty, comfortable, and generally well-equipped. The views over the lake were beautiful, and the hiking trails were close and convenient. The fireplace was so warm and easy to use, and the general feeling was cozy and relaxing. The kitchen had plenty of supplies for cooking, although the coffee maker is small. The microwave and refrigerator were large and clean.
Our only issue was the bathroom downstairs was dirty - hair still in the shower drain, rusted walls in the shower, and the entire room in desperate need of an overhaul. Also, the kitchen oven didn't look like it had been cleaned in ages. I ended up scrubbing the kitchen and bathrooms down, just because of my own cleanliness issues. However, the owner was quick to respond to my email about the issues.
In general, I would stay again, because we had a wonderful time and loved the location. The beds were comfortable and the place was very warm, even in the snowy cold weather. For families with young children, there was a lovely kids room with a chalk wall. There was also a great supply of books and dvd's. However, I'm hoping the owners start to devote some funds to repair the bathroom and/or get a better cleaning crew.
