I was neutral on the cleanliness only because of the dog hair. It is obviously used by a lot of dog owners due to the great choices of walks in the area. The cottage is very clean but it doesn't matter how much cleaning you do after dogs have been in there, will still be hair. Its not a complaint just an observation, if it wasn't for the dog hair it would have got full marks, a 'clean' sweep, pardon the pun.
Now to the positive, a super cosy cottage with super comfy beds in a great location. My youngest loved being on a working farm and the amount (and variation) of friendly animals as neighbours was, I have to say, pretty cool.
There are loads of attractions within half an hour:
Historic Scotland: The Priory, pretty much next to the cottage, Doune Castle, Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and a bit further afield Edinburgh Castle - All available with an annual membership so you can get them all for very cheap.
Farm Park at Comrie - reasonably priced and loads to do.
Aberfoyle (5 miles) - a few thing to see and do there.
The Church and its old graveyard at the end of the entrance road is also worth a visit. It was open from 2 till 4 when we were there and we had a great chat with the lady who was doing the visitor rota at the time. This is available for a any small donation to the up keep of the, beautiful, Church.
The Cardross Estate is worth a quick visit, no dogs allowed as its a working sheep farm.
