Shinonsen Vacation Rentals

".Kinosaki Onsen, the town, was celebrating it's 1300th year as an onsen town in 2025! The other guests were Japanese, but our host, Odie, spoke perfect English and explained everything very well. .Our group had 2 rooms. Both rooms were large traditional Japanese rooms (toilet/sink area, but no bath/shower in the room--onsen town!). VERY clean and stylish with a nice view of the main river street. Kotatsu sunken seating area, and a separate dining table area with floor chairs with backs. There were no children at the time of our stay, but families are welcome. .There are only 8 rooms in Ichidaya Inn. There were some elderly guests (it's a multi-story walk-up with no elevator; pack light, be ready for stairs). Ichidaya has 2 private Onsen which families can use together. We didn't have schedule difficulties with so few rooms using the baths. We stayed for 2 nights/3 days during our 2 weeks in Japan. It was the highlight of our trip! It was in early April, and the cherry blossoms just happened to be in full bloom! .Ichidaya yukata and jackets are worn inside the Ryokan and throughout the town. Several fancy women's yukata/obi/bows were no additional charge. . The Ryokan meals were worth every penny. It was far more food than we could eat! Delicious and beautifully presented. Meals were very different our two nights; both fantastic! They accommodated shellfish/pork avoidance. Advance notice required. Ichidaya is near train tracks, but trains didn't disturb night sleep."

"Spotlessly clean, modern and functional hotel close to the train station. Great free breakfast and coffee machine in the morning. Laundry 300yen a wash. Vending machines with drinks and snacks. Pyjamas. Toiletries. Regular clean towels. Toothbrush/paste. Hot/cold water machine. Microwave. Very helpful staff. Automatic check-in/check-out system. Excellent location for trains and also for local buses to many areas including attractions such as sand dunes/museum."

"Where to start, this Ryokan was spectacular. The hotel is beautiful in its traditional style with extremely friendly staff who couldn't have done more. The hotel is a nice ten minute walk from the main area but offer free transfers from the hotel to the onsens. We never used it because the walk was so pleasant. The onsen they provide is lovely with an indoor and outdoor area, the traditional set meals they have was equally brilliant. We will absolutely come back here in the future!"

"This hotel is beautiful, extremely clean and attention is paid to every detail. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room which was a wonderful experience. The tatami beds were so fluffy and comfortable. They provide robes and slippers so you can visit the 7 hot spring bath houses in the village. Breakfast was also very good. It’s pricey but well worth it for a one of a kind experience!"

"Enjoyable place to stay. Spa was nice though it was closed the hour before check out, so it was not super convenient. We couldn’t get double beds in the room, which was not ideal for a honeymoon. Still had a good time. "

"Wonderful stay. Friendly, professional and accommodating staff from the moment we drove up to the property to when we depart. The staff even helped to sort out our luggage delivery to the next accommodation in another city. Our hostess Matsuri was sweet, polite and gracious. The property itself is beautiful and exudes an old-world charm, and our room with in-room onsen is such a treat. The meals we had were also delicious and thoughtfully prepared and presented. We had a lovely time at Nishimuraya Honkan and hope to return again."
