"I stayed here for one night before catching a flight to another island. At €100 per night – the most expensive rate I’ve paid on Cape Verde – it was a huge disappointment. As a Gold Member on Expedia, I was promised a bottle of sparkling wine, which was missing. Instead, my room came with a cockroach (photo attached). Maybe it drank the wine for me. The air conditioning didn’t work, the shower drain was clogged, and mosquitoes thrived in the stagnant water. Housekeeping seemed questionable too...

"The ad on Vrbo was slightly misleading. It wasn't clear that it was on the Melia Tortuga resort, so we were worried that it might have been above the Reggae Bar. We needn't have worried.The flat was fantastic, the location is perfect - you get use of Tortuga facilities whilst being fully self-catering. Splendid west-facing beach.
