I’ve stayed at Taos Motor Lodge several times before and always found it to be a clean and comfortable spot, but this last visit was extremely disappointing—and will definitely be my last. We booked a room with two beds. One of the platform beds was broken and completely unusable, and the other had an uncomfortable springy mattress that made no sense for a platform with wooden slats. Not sure what kind of setup that is supposed to be, but it certainly didn’t make for a restful night. The quality has gone way downhill. The linens were so itchy we couldn’t sleep well, and the sofa looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I reached out to complain, and instead of acknowledging the actual problem with the broken bed, the person responding via text just kept talking about the TV setup (which was also overly complicated and frustrating to use). My parents came along on this trip and were just as uncomfortable as I was. Nothing about this stay felt like the calm, cozy experience we used to have here. Really disappointed. Not coming back.

They had hardly any towels and left us with one set for 4 people on our last night. They required a security deposit which has still not been refunded and it’s been over 2 weeks since our stay. Can’t get ahold of anyone at the motel. It redirects you to some call center and they reach out to the property. Our PIN code for the door didn’t work but thankfully they gave us a key to use.

This lodging option is great value given the price. It’s a short drive to the plaza and stores. Like other guests mentioned, the walls are thin so you will hear other guests and traffic passing by. The only other downside for me was that the floors of my room were quite dirty. I brought my yoga mat to stretch on and there was a lot of dirt and hair on the floor that definitely wasn’t mine.

Great overnight stay on the way to Colorado. One door wasn’t programmed but 2nd was so no issues. Would recommend.

Walls were paper thin and noisy neighbors kept us up at night sometimes. You could hear neighboring alarms, kids crying, partying etc on the property. Shower water was cold one morning. Otherwise, it’s a neat little spot and had everything we needed.

Great property with updated rooms. We enjoyed our stay. Small gripes include the sink being clogged which was a little frustrating, but everything else was wonderful!

It’s basically a motel with slightly better decor (def not as fancy and new as in pics) and space. It is right by a major street and for some reason our room’s password lock doesn’t work so i wouldn’t say it is the safest motel… They also dont have 24/7 help/front desk…it is locked after 7:30pm. We got checked in last minute but later found the room is out of shampoo and body wash in shower (only have conditioner half full). Had to went to closest walmart to get some travel size sanitary products for the stay. The curtain is also only for privacy but not much blocking lights. We were awakened by sun hitting our face before 7am.

Recently renovated property. Nice, safe, modern and clean. Our only challenge was communication with the property. One of our door codes did not work; we texted the property, and they did not respond. We also texted the property two other messages with questions, and they did not respond. We stopped by the front desk twice, during posted open hours, and it was locked/closed (9 am and 4 pm). So great property but very challenging to communicate with.

Newly Renovated Motel in Taos
Newly renovated older motel on the main highway into Taos, New Mexico. Excellent renovation. Spacious shower in beautifully tiled bathroom. One possible issue for some guests: very soft beds which might not suit persons with back problems. Best price in town on the date I stayed.

Pros: Convenient location, modern updated decor, comfy beds Cons: fresh sheets? Questionable...toilet had pubic hairs in it..a lot. Dirty soggy gross paper towel in shower. Shower floors a bit slimy. We wore our flipflops in it. If you just need a crash pad worked out fine.

Cute and comfortable
We arrived later in the evening, so was happy to have keyless entry. The room was comfortable and quiet. Just what we needed after a long day of traveling.
