I requested a full refund for my reservation because the property wrongfully denied me entry, despite my full compliance with all requirements communicated by the host.
Before my arrival, the host contacted me through WhatsApp and informed me of an additional charge of $40 per 4 nights for each extra person. I agreed to this charge immediately. The host also requested the IDs of all guests, which I provided in advance.
Upon arrival, I spent 45 minutes searching for the property because the building name listed on Expedia does not match the actual building name. When I finally located the building, the security staff informed me they had no record of my reservation. I showed them the WhatsApp messages, and only after the guard contacted the host directly did they acknowledge my booking.
Even after acknowledging the reservation, the host refused to allow me to check in. Their first reason was the number of guests, even though I had already agreed to pay the extra charges. To resolve the issue peacefully, I agreed to proceed with the reservation for only five guests, leaving other family members to find alternative lodging. The host still refused entry.
The host then claimed they needed the IDs, despite the fact that I had already sent all IDs via WhatsApp and presented them again at the building to security. At no point did the host provide a legitimate reason for denying access to the apartment.
As a result of the property’s actions, I was left stranded with kids at night….
