Its a beautiful, fall season in the mountains, many local folks had damage to their rural homes but desperately want visitors to local restaurants and businesses.
Most of the local areas have re-opened: Blowing Rock, much of Boone, West Jefferson and Wilkesboro. We will be donating to Samaritans Purse from rental proceeds until the area is in better shape after the storm.

We want you to have a great mountain escape and memories for life! Here are a few tips to ensure you have a great experience during your stay:
- If you like creek activities such as wading, bring water shoes and a float (warmer months).
- If you like to trout fish, you have two options on our property. The State releases trout in our glamping parking lot and other release points down creek to Highway 421. Fishing licenses are required. Option two is a private stock creek pond, right in front of the cabin. Details and fees are at the cabin. If you like lake fishing or boating, you can head to W. Kerr Scott Lake (10 miles)
- You can also watch the automatic trout feeding every day at 8 am, 12 pm and 6 pm.
- A cornhole set is available in the basement, laundry area.
- Hiking: behind the cabin, there is a trail off to the right that goes to the top of the property, about ¾ of a mile. Also, past the cabin, following the creek through a field, you can hike up three future cabin spots with views of the creek. At the top of this trail, you head back down to trail on
the right and see the neighboring mountains a little clearer. In the cabin, there is a manual of various hiking trails in the area.
- Gas Grill: the gas grill works great. It’s a great place to enjoy grilled food.
- If you like birds, download the Merlin Bird app. It identifies all the birds nearby.
- Firewood; you can bring some or we have bundles for $10 each
- Gazebo: sit by creek at the gazebo, great for relaxing and reading
- Canoeing and tubing is a quick 25 minute ride away (details available)
- Supplies: if coming up north on Highway 421, you will pass Lowes Foods, Lowes Hardware, Walmart, Dunham’s Sports and various stores. These are clustered together for easy access.
- Rainy weather: the screened porch is a great place to enjoy the rain. The game room has cards and few other games to play.
- Check the weather forecast to prepare for conditions that vary in the mountain communities. Appropriate clothing and gear will make for a more fun adventure!
