I chose this hotel because it said it was renovated and price was a okay meaning I didn’t have to pay 10K to vacation with my kids. The hotel was fine. I’m a picky eater, I also want my hotel to be super clean. Food at the buffet was non stop the same. No options for GF diet. Towards the end of the trip we saw a cockroach happy strolling near the hamburger station. I know where there is food there will be animals but come on. Beach was semi ok. Seaweed everywhere. Will I return. Probably not. Not to this hotel. I’ve been traveling to DR for pass 20 years or so. Things have changed for sure. I might need to pick different destination to take my kids to.

Terrible place, stay clear! Completely overpriced and nothing is related to luxury here. I’ve never seen a place that is do badly run. Rudest and most incompetent staff ever, mediocre food, cockroach infested rooms, and when we arrived they wanted another 1800 dollars as they said that I registered the kids as infants. My reservation clearly shows that they are registered as children. What a scam this is, stay clear!

The hotel was just okay . The staff was sort of rude. I had to ask for things 4-5 times before getting anything .. like coffee. Most of the time I had to have a few dollars in my hand before they would actually look at me. Pool was dirty with things floating around … such as cups. Food was okay . We will not be returning.

Not a 5 star property…mostly “mediocre”, not terrible, just not great. Staff mostly avoided helpful interactions, getting coffee in am restaurant was challenging. Great variety of restaurants available throughout the overall, very large property, food quality was variable, ranging from okay to great (2/7 experiences were memorable), no ambiance in any of the restaurants, both buffet or the reserved ones.

Breakfast was chaotic, often no plates. Staff broke glassware every day. Tables and floors were not the cleanliest in buffet. very hard to get staff attention for something. They always seem to be moving around but with no attention to the guests. Staff not speaking english at all was a challenge and had to use google translate. Restaurants for dinner were great. Room amenities were sub par. First morning water in all faucets was scalding hot, maintenance came and gave us a tutorial in spanish. Not helpful. Somehow the tub faucet controlled the temperature and we were told to use tv to control everything from lights to temperature. Second day, our tv remote was not working (needed new batteries) and when maintenance came, spoke no English and did not replace batteries like I asked him to, rather took out a pliers and squeezed the batteries and put them back in remote. Very unusual. When I called concierge again I had to call constantly to ask if someone was coming. After an hour I called back and the concierge told me they are coming, you can wait a little longer”. No one ever came. Very unprofessional. Luckily I had batteries from a device I brought which I had to use. Towels were not alway refreshed often with pile left on floor. Had to flag down staff for towels. Facial tissue not refilled the entire trip. Decorative pillows on beds had bad odor. Thankfully walked with lysol spray but still felt uneasy. Very slow service overall in every area. Will not return.

Overall the hotel was ok. They had a lot of activities during the day and at the pool. They had two pools so you can spread out a bit. Beach was beautiful. I expected a little bit more in terms of customer service and checking in on us. Check in was great and then after that we never heard from anyone. At one point my husband left his reading glasses at a restaurant and to get them back was a complete nightmare. We waited 3 hours for them to check the list and found and track the security cameras. Overall service was “ok”.

The food overall was not the best, and while some staff members were friendly, others were not as welcoming. However, we had a great experience at the Italian restaurant—our waitress, Ronald, was amazing, and the food there was very good. Overall, I would rate my experience a 7 out of 10. I would have loved to see more Dominican dishes offered, along with a greater variety of fresh fruit like mango and coconut.

Disappointing Stay from Start to Finish Poor Service Throughout I recently stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Esmeralda, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from the moment I arrived until my final night. Check-In Experience: Check-in was extremely slow. I arrived early and fully understood that rooms may not be ready before the official check-in time. I was told to return in an hour, which I did. In the meantime, I made the most of my time by planning my excursions and booking all of my restaurant reservations for the duration of my stay. However, when I returned after 3:00 PM the official check-in time my room was still not ready. I kept being told that the housekeeper was “in the room as we speak,” but there was no real resolution. After traveling and waiting all day, this was frustrating and a very poor first impression. I do want to acknowledge that I believe his name was Luis, who assisted me during check-in with booking my restaurant reservations. He was helpful and professional, and he did try to make things right but by that point, the experience was already too far gone. Room Issues: On both my second and third nights, I had to repeatedly call because the remote control in the room was not working. This should have been a simple fix, yet it required multiple calls and follow-ups, which added to the overall frustration. Swim up suotes don't have a beach view, but it was great, clean and the private-ish pool very convenient as it can be used till 9 pm while all other pools close at 6 pm.

The hotel setting is pleasant, and the beach is nice; however, the food is ok, the service is poor, and booking a restaurant is a hassle. All in all, this hotel falls far short of five-star standards.

I would give it 5 stars for cleanliness but my room smelled like sewage and the first person I told about it said they would change our room after 3 PM when I went to follow up nothing was noted. Fortunately the 2nd person was very responsive and immediately went to work on securing another room.

Rooms were clean. Beach was excellent. Pools were also excellent. Buffets was very good. Food at the specialty restaurants was average. A lot of the good was over cooked.

Very nice and clean rooms. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Pool and beach was excellent. Entertainment could use improvement (stage, more bubble making machines, and more adult quality amusement. Overall nice relaxing vacation. Would do it again.

Very gracious and helpful staff. Hotel bathroom was in need of maintenance. The room was overall a good size and uncomfortable. Lots of excellent amenities and great for families.
